can anybody please tell the best opticians to go to have glasses made ..I have a prescription from specsavers, but did not have time to have them made whilst in the UK.

Akay Optics is OK, but ohhhh, they are expensive. I recently paid 599tl (it was originally 620tl) for two lenses (no frame as I wanted to use what I already had). OK, I wanted thin glass, varifocal with antiglare (but not photocromatic). Apparently they had to have the Ziess lenses ground and then sent from somewhere in the UK, but it seemed a bit pricey to me. I could have had cheaper glass ground in Turkey, but was advised against it. Maybe I was taken for a ride?

Try Canada Optic in Catalkoy, good choice of frames, reasonable prices and excellent service.

Canada Optics in Karakum opposite Lemar. I bought a pair varifocals, frames, and reactive lenses. Price 430 Lira. Excellant Service.

Message 3: I don't think quoting prices for Zeiss lenses is a fair indication of other lens prices at Akay or anywhere else. Zeiss lenses are very expensive everywhere. My husband used to buy them in UK because he was prepared to pay the price for the very high quality. Our optician there used to order them direct from Zeiss in Germany and they were mega bucks - probably, looking back about 12 years - they were about the same price as you are quoting now from Akay.

Can anyone tell me where you can get contact lenses and the prices please, i pay £35.00 for 30 daily lenses or £25 for the monthly ones, need them to be varifocal.

I had exactly the same situation as you. I had my own frames and ordered Zeiss anti-glare, anti-scratch etc. I paid €209 including free eye test at A&A, just over the Ledra Palace crossing.



I didn't get on with the varifocals, so had the same Zeiss, same anti-everything bi-focal lenses fitted.



No charge and he said, keep the original varifocal lenses in case you decide to try again.



Zeiss lenses can be obtained in less than 1 week. Five minute walk from Ledra Palace crossing.
