Considering earlier threads wherein posters were saying they could not find accomodation in June for trnc...

The following email just arrived in my in-box.

Some of the prices quoted are cheaper than you could get flights for this time of the year.

Many of the hotels featured also include free up-grades to half board and free car hire for a couple of days etc.

Can only think agencies had taken up large room and flight quotas only to find fewer people booking?

What say you?

Some good prices in their adverts but whether they hold out when booking is to be seen.

I understand that many of the smaller or family run hotels on our side (West) have at least 75% occupancy now and for most of the summer. Trouble is, most of them are half board upgrades and it doesn't help bars etc a lot. Two waiters I know are brushing up their German. We had lunch at a small Lapta eatery a few days ago and all but two tables had German or Dutch speaking people at them.

For a small family run hotel it should be looking at 95% occupancy for May, June, July & August and averaging out at 50% for the rest of the year to be in profit, as a rule of thumb. Many factors will change these given figures depending on freehold/leasehold status etc etc.

The above company use Onur Air which includes in-flight meals but no mention of drinks. I've emailed them if airport transfers are included in their promotional offer prices and await their reply. If so, the shown prices are excellent value.

They are on the ball, no reply to date! Probably all sold out but I'll do a little excercise on their booking forum and see what happens and report back.

Thanks Brinsley. Cyprus Paradise have promised to get back to one of our couples on Tuesday. So we shall see what they come up with. Having paid for the package one couple were told it would cost a further £250pp to get them home on a Thursday! Least CP could do would be to swallow the cost to get them out. Had I have known Onur were back in the frame would never have recommended CP!

Someone on an earlier thread looking for this post so b t t t...

Seems C/P.s promotion is via Onur Airlines which has cancelled or changed flights. In most cases perhaps no big hardship if you are not tied down to dates and are offered an alternative at no extra cost, however going by reports on here by members who have booked it looks like this is not the case.

Further if you do have good reason to book a particular date then again such changes are really out of order if alternatives are poor.

Seems to me really bad p/r by both airline and agency which can only prove harmful to them in the long run due to adverse publicity and people making a mental note to steer clear.. shame !

One question I have... who are Onur Airlines... never heard of them?

Joseph, I think that 'someone' was me and Brinsley gave me the thread. We used to fly with Onur air in the early days and found them satisfactory until we discovered Pegasus. Then Onur pulled out of flying to Ercan one weekend 3 years or so ago leaving our friends stranded! Now they are back and giving us/our friends more problems. One couple now have return home 4 days late and miss a big family wedding the day before which rather takes the edge off of things. Others cannot take extra time and have to cut their 10 days holiday to a week instead. In all we have about 8 party guests inconvenienced with little sympathy from Cyprus Paradise. If they pull out they will lose all their money. Scheduled to stay at Green Gardens by the way.

not all the reports on it are bad

After reading recent reviews for Onur air we were a bit worried about the service that we would receive. We need not have worried. The flights departed just 10-20 minutes later than expected- the staff were both courteous and friendly, the food was the same as any other airline and included free soft drinks, whilst alcohol was certainly cheaper than most other airlines we have used.

Never mind the service - the cabin crew used to smoke in the front toilet, and one of the rear toilets was always 'out-of-order' - with the crew's stuff in it.

I think CYPRUS PARADISE may be going to go in bankrupcy for the second time agayn as they are advertise these crazy prices. IT LOOK VERY WORRYING.. especially as they did the same thing 3 years ago when they closed down, and reopened later

Hulya Msg 23 - You are correct Cyprus Paradise did close as a trading entity about three years ago but as far as I am aware it went out of business without letting any clients down it did not go into bankruptcy but it's owner decided to stop selling tours and flights to North Cyprus and take up a different life.

Cyprus Premier bought the trading name and web address from the owner of The Paradise Found Travel Company which marketed itself as Cyprus Paradise.

I would not know if your other assumptions regarding Cyprus Premier are correct but I would suggest that as they are ATOL bonded hopefully clients are safeguarded.

I suspect that bookings may be OK for the cheaper end of the market - all inclusives etc - but I'm not too sure for better quality arrangements. A friend of mine who has a large, very good quality house which she lets for holidays, has got the fewest bookings this year since she started letting it 5 years ago.

There are only two properties here that are all inclusive, The Merit Crystal Cove , http://www.kyreniahotels.co.uk/merit/ and the Mercure , http://www.kyreniahotels.co.uk/mercure/ , neither of which are at the cheaper end of the market.

Extra flights - some have been added with Onur and some extras from Pegasus but they still do not make up for the loss of CTA.

According to the news information at various times the airline industry overall has reduced scheduled commercial flights again this year.

Q Early last week - Are there any deals on flights for August or September?

A. Hi S****,

There were none but it looks like there might be a good special available this Sunday only the 19th (about 20/30% off the best available price).

To get it I will need travellers details in advance and to complete the transaction on Sunday. (It may not apply to all bookings but we will see.)

Details needed:

Flight dates plus where from and to of course

Each of the travellers names as on the passport (ie Mrs Elizabeth Sarah Davie) and DOB for any children under 12

At least land and mobile numbers to call you on when we have an option on hold.

------ This was a real conversation - If you email the details to info@flightholiday.co.uk we will come in and hold seats in the early hours of the morning for you (so using the cheapest seats for the discount saving) but the deals must be paid & complete tomorrow!
