Hello. We will be visiting Limassol in July 2011. On 24th July we would like to travel up to NIcosia then Kyrenia/Girne(?) and take a ferry to Southern Turkey (Tasucu o Alanya) and from there continue up to Urgup to see the cave houses etc.

Can anyone please help with detailed instructions about the ferries, which ports to goto, formalities, buses/trains to Urgup? have looked at flights from LCA and PFO but they are very pricey and make long out-of-the-way stop-overs. Any advice would be gladly received.

Maybe we should do things the other way around and go to Istanbul first, then Urgup and finally Cyprus?

We flew to Istanbul from Ercan to Sabiha Gokcen airport, then took the onward Kayseri flight in the evening. The hotel arranged a pickup to Goreme. (1 hour transfer time) Flight from Istanbul was 1 hour and cost around Ł40. You can go by coach from Istanbul too but it's overnight, arriving early morning and is a long, long trip.

We did this trip last month & it's fabulous. A World Heritage site and you can see why. We also did a balloon ride, a trip to remember for sure.

I am also interested in ferries to Alanya/Antalya if anyone has any info? Ankara Travel don't deal with ferries and info is hard to get.

Dawnie1 I really want to do that hot air balloon trip over Cap. Envious.

Hello, who did you fly with? I was trying to avoid the all day wait and travel, but it appears there are no good connections.

Hello again, Been studying our travel options.

WeŽll concentrate on getting from Cyprus to Urgup for the moment

(as we have booked a few days hotel there already).

What are our options and the costs involved in getting from Cyprus to Urgup by

(i) fast ferry to Alanya

or

(ii) fast ferry to (Silike) Tasucu

or

(iii) fast ferry to Adana?

We have been told there are cheap buses up to Nevsehir or Kayseri,

but they take a long time to arrive.

We have also been offered bus shuttles form the local airportts to Urgup at 12TL.

So what would the transfer costs be? Do you have groups ariving there?

I am comparing the ferry+bus travel costs against a cheap flight Lefkosia - Adana (61TL)

OR

Lefkosia (Cyprus) to IST () then IST to Nevsehir (59TL)

If anyone out there has already been trough this....please advise options & costs & experiences Good & bad!

Kind regards

Paul
