When we moved out here in 2005 we were surprised to need duvets at night by mid October. This year seems to be warmer but the summer weight duvet went on last night....Anyone else, out here, using a duvet yet?

I had a tip from my friend who lives in Tenerife. I put a summer duvet on the bed in November and in January I add another summer duvet to the cover. In April I take one out and by the end of May I am back to just the sheet. 2 summer duvets traps the air between them but are lighter on the bed than a winter one. The Butlers wife

its not cold here in the mountain. we still have sheets on the bed. you must live in a new villa, as my old village house has big thick walls, temperature changes are not so great for us.

I'm living in an old Cypriot house with very thick walls, so only need the duvet cover,(no duvet), with a bedspread at the bottom of the bed to pull up in the night if I get chilly. Mind you I do have a lot of very big, long haired cats who snuggle up with me!!!!

Let's hear it for the thick Cypriot walls - cool in summer and warm in winter but summer's when you really appreciate it.

Yes, in the summer, people were amazed coming into our house as to how cool it was, with no fans or air conditioning. I do have air conditioning, but only had to use it in the evenings, haven't used it for about a month now.
