Have just returned today to the UK from Cyprus and could not believe how the £/YTL rate went up nearly every day, who is to say how high it might go.Could easily go up to 3.5 when you look at past history, its highly probable

The Turkish Gov will be pleased the Lira has dropped in value as it makes Turkish goods and tourism cheaper on the world markets... they won't intervene.. it's good for business.

The most important thing is for Turkey to remain competitive in a tough market now. Cyprus does not come into it... the population is tiny...

I'm visiting TRNC shortly and in the interests of getting the best rate, I plan to get my sterling changed when I arrive.

Can anyone recommend places for currency exchange? I'm staying out near Karsiyaka so would prefer not to have to trek all the way into Girne to change my money. Thanks.

Hi,

,There are plenty of banks on the main road into Girne, through Lapta, Alsancak etc, but check the rates, as they are not all the same.
