Could any members suggest the best garden centres local for Esentepe? We are looking for substantial pot grown plants, palms etc, with emphasis on Substantial pot grown!

Thankyou,

wyn

Wyn

Pay a visit to the garden centre opposite the power station.

Very friendly and helpful and almost everything you could want including lots of coloured Frangipani which are new to the island.

Wyn... there is also Gabriels Garden centre up in the village...

But don't be put off by smaller plants for several reasons...

1. They are easier to plant (save your back)

2. Less likely to object to being planted from the pot

3. They'll reach good growth heights in no time given the right conditions (quite often this is neglect - that's easy to achieve)

4. They are substantially cheaper

5. You can move them easily if you decide "That plant's not the right place"

Check the likely height and optimum position in a good mediterranean plant guide book. No good using a UK one the guides are not accurate enough.. Light shade in the UK is complete shade here...

Also don't forget to factor in the impact on your pool if you have one... don't plant things that will cause you grief too near the water.... Bougainvillea for example shed their bracts and they clog up pool pump systems like a good'un.

The garden centre on the main road at Catalkoy junction has a huge range of plants and pots. Good prices too.

Hi Wyn,

Senol at Sorted garden Centre in Esentepe has a good range of plants and does all sorts of garden work. He will take you to his home garden to see more plants and he speaks excellent English. Incidentally his garden now contains a restaurant serving local foods and EFES! That should make your mind up then.
