A CYPRUS Airways (CY) air steward left behind a wife and young child last week after swallowing a toothpick.



According to yesterday’s Alithia, the air steward fell asleep with a toothpick in his mouth last Wednesday after eating a meal. State pathologist Eleni Antoniou was quoted saying that his subsequent death was a result of asphyxiation by the ingestion of a non-digestible object.



Saw a similar storyline in an episode of an American crime investigation series and thought it far-fetched... not now though! As they are available on nearly every restaurant table here it's worth bearing in mind....

I heard of someone living after swallowing a toothpick

They were told what a silly thing to swallow by the doctor

He got the point when he passed it through

A man who cleaned his glass eye by putting in his mouth swallowed it and went to the doctors in distress... he didn't want to go to the expende of replacing it...



The doc worked out that it should pass straight through his digestive system with no bother...



To see if he could help things along he did a rectal examination with a probe and a powerful torch...



The could not see any sign and said to the man... "No I can't see anything"



To which the man replied "Funny, I can see you!"...

Dr. Jones goes to the retirement home for his monthly rounds. He sees Joe and asks him, "Joe, how much is three times three?" Joe responds "59." He goes over to Tom and asks, "Tom, how much is three times three?" Tom responds, "Wednesday." He finally goes over to John and asks, "John, how much is three times three?" "NINE" replies John. "That's right ...now how did you come to that answer?" "It was easy...I just subtracted 59 from Wednesday!"
