Go to the garden centre on the Lefkosa road they sell it or Cemser in Lefkosa is where most of it comes from, but bear in mind you need more than just the artificial grass for your finished price.

Alternatively We are happy to give you a quote to lay it for you including our discounts on the various materials involved. However if you fancy your hand at having a go then please see as follows our brief guide to laying artificial grass...

We hope this will be of some help.

Here is a brief guide to laying it on sand:

1. First clean the area of large rocks, weeds and spray with a weed killer if necessary.

2. The ground should then be compacted using a vibrator/whacker.

3. Then lay a good quality weed resistant barrier, don't use polythene sheeting.

4. Install some sort of edging, remembering to keep drainage in mind.

5. using a coarse sand (grey sand they call it here) level a layer between 1 and 3 inch thick.

6. Vibrate again.

7. spread a 6mm layer of beach sand.

8. Place the artificial grass in place (try not to drag it into place). If there are creases leave the grass for a few hours before fixing

9. Cut and trim to size.

10. fix using landscaping nails about every 10cm

sheffpants,

I will send you a mail about the possible plans for the garden (see your mail or facebook mail) which I will be bringing to you guys if I go ahead with it but the price of the astro turf will affect the basic design which is the reasoning behind the request.

It is very good of you to give this information however, there is obviously more to the basic laying of the turf than I thought.

Thanks, Paul

Paul

Do not forget to purchase an artificial lawnmower as well as you will need to uphold the British tradition of mowing the lawn on a Sunday morning (after washing the car).

AJ, I won the artificial lawnmower in the christmas raffle which is why I am getting rid of the natural stuff.

Scoty, I do run a forum which is not very successful so I posted where the people I seek advice from are, I thought it was pretty logical really. After all, it would be silly of me to ask London driving directions in Auchtermuchty.

I don't think you were being thick at all, its a perfectluy good question, possibly a little devious and sarcastic (if ones mind thought along those lines, but I am sure yours doesn't, perhaps that is also a little sarcastic, maybe I should just delete that comment now where is that delete button, oops........., don't you just hate it when that happens )

The Yapi markets call it either Yellow sand or beach sand. We would never condone such antics as taking sand from beaches!
