| I see Anorthosis Famagusta lost to Inter Milan last night. I was wondering why/how UEFA recognise them since they are based in a country which “technically” doesn’t exist. Are they treated as being a Turkish side?
Does anyone know whether they play their home games in the Champions league in Northern Cyprus or do they play them in Turkey? |

They are a southern cyprus team, who play in the South using the Cypriot name Famagusta.
TC's are not allowed to play sports in the International arena. |

| Famagusta TOWN is in the north. However there is a Famagusta DISTRICT both north and south. There is also a Famagusta administration in exile, based in Larnaca which covers the towns in the south and anything that a setlement returns to them.
Iskele district is also part of the pre 1974 Famagusta district.

| They are called Anorthosis Famagusta, however, they are now based in Larnaca. Before 74 their ground was in the part of Famagusta which is now in the North. |

| The South even publishes an English paper called the Famagusta Gazette if your interested.

Not as good as the Cyprus Mail but sometimes has interesting brief articles etc
