I urgently need to re-home my 2 dogs. They do not need to be re-homed together. Both are male. I is a 2.5 yr old Cyprus Terrier, the other is a 6 month old Staffy cross. For further details please contact me

I have just watched the A&E programme on television tonight, where a young girl was delivering leaflets, and as she was about to shut the garden gate on her way out, a Staffy cross rushed out the house, and took a chunk out of her leg. In the hospital, as part of her calf and skin was missing, the surgeon had to take a skin graft from her thigh, to cover the hole left. He said it would take at least a year to heal properly, but for her lifetime, she would always have a deep indentation where the lump of flesh was removed. The child (looked about twelve or so) was distraught, and says she is now fearful of every dog she meets.

Ms Garnet May I ask the reason for this reply to this particular post - any dog can do the same damage why does it have to be that people have to always post comments with anything to do with staffies ? Please remember its the owners bad upbringing of these dogs that is the problem

I disagree up to a point - yes, bad ownership causes many otherwise good natured animals to become vicious and unmangeable to the point they need to be put down, through no fault of their own. As regards a Staffi Cross - crossed with what? Many owners of a "Staffi-Cross" have crossed them with Pit bulls (have NO idea what the cross of this animal is, the owner hasn't said) but a Staffi is a muscular, tenancious animal originally bred for bull and bear baiting, and many press reports analysing dog attacks have identified the Staffordshire bull terrier as the leading breed of dog responsible for biting humans. The gene pool cannot be ignored. Of course you will always find heaps of Staffi owners who say their animals wouldn't hurt a fly, and maybe they wouldn't - I believe ANY dog has the ability to attack other dogs or humans. This is a pup, but its provenance should be thoroughly investigated; Princess Anne was taken to Court because her bull terrier bit a child.......

fyi the dog - (puppy) is a staff / pointer cross as far as I can tell. I cannot be sure as I found him abandoned outside my house when he was approx 1 month old. I have taken this dog in and cared for him but as I work full time I am unable to give him the care and attention that he needs. He is a very sweet natured dog who tries to please and is very affectionate and intelligent, unfortunately due to my personal circumstances I urgently need to find him a good home where he will be looked after and given the attention that he needs and deserves. He is well socialised with other dogs and children. If anyone can offer this handsome boy a home please email me - address on my profile Thank you

thank you for that Lionel. i did not go out looking for this dog, it was dumped in the road and would have died outside my house had i not taken it in. He is an energetic dog that needs to be in a home that can provide the attention he needs as well as the space that a dog of his size requires. I AM NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE WHAT THIS DOG NEEDS. I wish my personal circumstances would allow me to keep him but THEY DO NOT. thanks anyway for keeping this post at the top. anyone else who would care to lambast me for taking a dog in off the street, please feel free...

is it not that he will calm down and need less attention? i commend you for your eforts, but is it merely a case that he is still a puppy at the moment ? did you not consider Kar? at least the puppy would not have learned to depend/get attatched to you ?its sad and i wish you all the best :(
