Hi Izzet, I think what your friends are looking for is a Nanny. They must make sure that they are fully trained and police checked. Nannies in England earn very good money now and even in this economic climate a good one is never out of work. An unqualified person is classed as a mothers help, they are expected to help with housework as well as look after the baby, they will cost less but please make sure that they are police checked. Hope this information helps. The Butlers wife

hi izzet , perhaps an au pair might be considered , plenty of english au pairs would jump at the chance i'm sure , but as the butlers wife says a police check would be essential regards , simbas

Hi, My daughter-in-law has just moved here and is looking for work, although only part time. She is NNEB qualified and has been for 16 years. If your friend would consider part time she would be very interested depending of course in which area. She has had all checks necessary and references. A full CV is available if required.

Your post is a bit vague Izzet. Does your friend need a nanny who lives in, or is it more of 9-5 job? I also have a problem with "English babysitter". Does your friend want an English person, or could it be an English speaking person from another part of the UK or elsewhere?

Thank you for your replies and apologies for the misunderstanding and confusion. My friend is looking for a nanny. She will give birth in February 2009. She will look after the baby for 3 months herself. After 3 months, she wants to have a nanny from 9-5, so she can go back to work. The house is in centre Kyrenia. I advised them about the police checks, but I am not sure how easy it would be to find a qualified nanny. We'll probably put up a classified on Cyprus Today nearer the time. Meanwhile, I appreciate if you can have any good nannies read this thread and contact me. Izzet

Hi Izzet, There is a publication in England called The Lady Magazine. It is a good source when looking for domestic staff and nannies. It might be worth putting an advert in here, if you get no response from local newspapers. The Butlers wife.
