does anyone know any info. re; Antalya ? like it says on their website, there are no buses or public transport from the airport to the town ???? so never having been there, hate taxis until you know the score .... is it practical to hire a moped or scooter once youve arrived ? or am i thinking im in thailand or malaysia ? [ i wish] ....lastly dont know the areas or anything about antalya ... id like to find a 'pension' or B&B [not into 4/5 starhotels at all ] close enough to the centre ????..... somewhere in an old sector [if there is such a place ].. walking to restaraunts etc etc ... i understand there are waterfalls and lakes which would be very interesting to me having spent 4/5 years in trnc ... the only one i ever found was in LAPTA by the offices and they built a toilet under it ... mmmmm great plan, i dont think ...still at least they didnt tip their rubbish at the botton...... YET ...

There a old tram that runs along the coast road. They were in the process of building a new tram system.

I would recommend staying in the old town. Its largely pedestrianised look at tripadvisor there are some lovely small traditional guest houses. The bus station is good for excursions all along the coast.

We were there approx 12 months ago.

We got a taxi into Kaleici (Old Town). When we came out of the airport we asked about the prices and was told by a chap running the taxi rank that the prices are set, but unfortunately I cannot remember what we paid.

With regards to public transport, no problem for us as we could walk straight onto the main road within 3 or 4 mins or up to the main crossroads in about 10 mins.

Public transport in Antalya is very good and actually the taxi was a giggle if you have a pragmatic attitude to life......when your time is up, then its up!!. As said earlier the trams are cheap and plentiful. We booked a small boutique hotel in the old town, which included the taxi fare from airport to hotel if you stayed 3 nights or more. If you're in the Old Town, walking around and down to the old harbour is no problem unless of course you want to go further afield.

I went there last October, got the Havas bus to the Bus/coach terminal in Antalya from the airport, then took a Pammukale coach to Gocek via Fethiye.

No problems at all,the scenery up in the mountains is breathtaking,it was quite cheap too, approx 35tl return, new coaches, dvd players, snacks and drinks included.

All because CTA went bust and I lost my flight to Dalaman !!

James - lots to do and see not just in Antalya but in the area as far away (or close as) Olympos with the Chimera etc or horse riding near Kemer as well as the waterfalls, national park or just the Old Town etc

Went to Argos Hotel in old quarter found on travel republic. Clean tidy with b & b close to harbour and town. They sent driver to pick us up. If you e-mail hotel direct they might do you a deal.

Great place for a break
