I have a Ford Fiesta which has recently had a new battery fitted - as a result the radio isn't working. Does anyone know what the code should be - Serial number M583992

Thanks

Usually they put a sticker somewhere inside your hand book it is a four digit code. All cars have different codes , the only people who will know are Fords ( who will charge about £12 for it ) or the PDI centre . Or you could try the previous owner.

This place is a lot cheaper than Fords .

I think you will find your code is 7876.

If that does not work put the radio in your freezer overnight (and yes it does work most times).

absolute myth that putting a radio in a freezer disables the code.

i know for fact .....in the very early days of twoking the phillips radio was the thing to have ,came out of the sri cavalier in 5 seconds .

the myth was put it in the freezer ....still that myth circulates .

most little asian chaps that sit around market stalls will decode in 5minutes if they have the radio .

they charge £10

as above though like arry says ford will do it with log book etc ,but i would think more than £12 now .

who fitted the battery ?most people who fit batterys professionally use a gadget that keeps the live to the radio ,this then stops the need for the code .....if its a uk company did they ask you did you know the code etc

Might I suggest calling Tiga Motors, they have an electronics/electrical guy who knows how to unlock most systems and has the retore disks for several of the DVD type systems.

It won't do any harm to call and ask Tony or Hugh if it might be possible for them to do it.

The website is here, I put it down so you can see where the garage is in case it is further than you wish to travel but the contact details are there as well.

Message 9.

You will need to supply make, model & serial number of radio. If you still have owners handbook, have a look first in there.

Message 10.

It was probably a Phillips as they made most of the radios for major manufacturers, I think they were the first to use codes. You're correct in saying it will not work on all the modern stuff as the processors are more advanced.
