Drive towards Guzelyurt... follow coast road until as it veers off to left towards Camlibel... when you get to the top of the road that winds down and up by the reservoir you'll come to right filter to Camlibel, take this right turn and drive through Camlibel and out the other side... just on the outskirts you will come across the Mavi Kosk on the right hand side... It's on a Military Base and you will need to hand over your passports to gain entry so don't forget them...

Have fun trying to sort out the fact from fiction... the guides have a script to perform and quite a lot of it is complete tosh....

If you go to http://www.whatson-northcyprus.com and click on places of interest in Guzelyurt it will tell you all about Mavi Kosk (blue house).

Open daily except monday.

It is within a military area and you have to take your passport to gain entry.

Sorry cannot help you with directions but I'm sure someone will be able to respond to your post with this.

For any others, this is a must see.

Yes, as Groucho says they use a script as you are guided around but whatever it is a great museum piece of 1950's building. And for 2tl it is one of the best bargains here.

When you do go there, take the opportuninty to stand on the tile in the garden,

say sometning, anything, facing the house, and listen to the echo/

acoustics, I think they called it, amazing!!!!!!

considering how rich he is purported to have been.. it's hardly a palace but it is interesting to see that building standards have been constant for 50 years.. lol

I lost belief in the script about the time they talked about the garden fountain filled with wine... it's such a silly made up attempt to demonise the man it undermines the the rest of it... the man was undoubtedly a nasty piece of work but some of the "facts" are as bad as some of the rumours spread in Cyprus today...

Glad to see it's about where I said....

Hans why the odd spelling of Köşk in the link? Köşk would be pronounced "Kurshk" phonetically..

Closed on Mondays. They only keep one passport at the gate, you are given a receipt to give back when you collect the passport on the way out.

RE msg 17, Bill: (...) Hans, why not arrange one of your walks to Mavi Köşk? (...)

=> Bill, there are well informed Turkish soldiers there, acting as guides. Some of them speak English, or they will give you a sheet of paper with short explanations of what you see. Don't try to tip them after the walk through the house and the gardens - they are not allowed to accept any money.

After leaving the 'Blue House' tour go to the village square and ask at the local 'cafe/inn' directions to the cheese factory, about 1/4 mile away down narrow streets however, well worth a visit.

Moderators, small request: please correct the title of this thread: it's Mavi Köşk. Thank you!
