I heard that the kktc is banning some nationalities from entering and or wroking eg Pakistanis and Turkmens. Is anyone in a position to verify and perhaps tell us which other passport holders are not welcome?

An accountant told me. Im thinking of hiring someone with a foreign passport at my workplace and he told me that they have strict rules now, and some nationalities are banned.

What the goverment have done is this, now if you wish to employ some 1 other than a local, you must advertise the job for 7 workin days,if no 1 applies for the job, then they must look at your request to import a worker for that same job,but a local must be offerd the oppertunity first.

How do i know, because i went through the process 3 months ago.

There are many pakistanis here already. They own businesses or work in restaurants so i dont think they are banned. They cannot all be illegal.

We needed are foreign speaking person, some one who also spoke turkish, english, russian, the goverment office here said we must advertise the job here first,so we did,no 1 came forward for the job,so then they had to take the application of the person who we originally had in mind for the job.

Yes some one was hired.

There is a big push to get unemployed Turkish Cypriots and TRNC citizens into work. Fact. The likelihood that the austerity measures might put some more on the dole queue (not that there is one here) is also behind the moves. Supposition.

I really am not trying to get an arguement going here, this is a genuine question.

Are the TRNC citizens considered in the same vain as the Turkish Cypriots towards these jobs or are they considered in the same vain as residents from other countries?

TRNC citizens are considered very important, because they have the right to vote. Some civil servants will privately admit the efforts - allegedly jobs, money and land, not forgetting business deals - that go on before elections.

re message 11

The accountants name is Ferah and his offices are in Nicosia. Feel free to email me for his details.

re message 8, I think that they will not be granted work visas in the future, but those who are already working will be allowed to extend their permits.

re message 9, I have also advertised and gotten many responses although none of them have the experience or qualifications I have asked for.

Anyway thanks for the info, good to know
