Hi Mezzo. Has he been neutered? If he hasn't then chances are he has been stolen, or snatched off the street. These sort of dogs are at a premium right now, and pups can fetch quite a high price....

Just another reason to neuter your pets....i seriously do hope he comes home...i couldn't bear it if i lost one of mine, so i do understand....

Mezzo,

He's never been 'done' and their are shed loads of females in season... you do the math! He will probably come back when he's knackered. I hope....

Or he maybe being used as a stud....i really am so sorry for you....but even in the UK, a full pedigree dog that is in 'fashion' will be stolen for breeding purposes, not just here.

I seriously hope he turns up, for your sake and his....thoughts and wishes are with you x

I suppose you could report him as stolen...but unless he's been chipped...you'd have a hard time proving he's yours. Put up as many posters as possible including at the vets etc....

It doesn't seem irresponsible to you that you "let him out on the pull" but "he's never been gone this long before"???????????????? A two year old, powerful, strong, un-neutered Rottweiler?????????????????? I am speechless................ What if a child was playing in a garden with it's smaller, weaker pet, who happened to be in season; YOUR Rottweiler jumped over the wall, attempted to mate with the bitch, the child tried to stop it, and got mauled for its trouble?????????????

I just CANNOT understand all these 'pets' forEVER "getting loose" (most especially on this board - Rottweilers - lately). The laissez faire attitude is beyond the pale. TRNC is sinking under the weight of feral, abandoned, unwanted animals, and right now, your animal may well have increased that amount, and more pups will be produced to a life of utter misery. Unconscionable.

OK OK ............ you've made your point!

However this is still a loved pet who is missing.

Some sympathy is needed here ............ if not for the owner but the dog

We never let him out , and he doesnt ( cannot ) get over the walls , unfortunately some person who came to visit and knocked on the door ( we wasnt home , seen on camera ) left the property and the gate open when they left , so althlough i said ' went out on the pull ' i didnt mean we let him out !

Why don't you just get him sorted then he won't feel the need to go out on the 'pull' to keep his tackle is irresponsible.

let us just hope he gets his dog back and then maybe he will deal with some of these issues!!! It is very worrying the number of pegigree un-neutered animals which go adrift here, but I feel sad for the owners who are clearly very upset.

Mezzo, you will be doing the right thing and I applaud you for that. Bear in mind that it can take as long as 6 months for dogs to lose the urge even after being sorted, so be prepared. I really hope you find him.

bad news people :( my gardner just came over and said hed found our dog , DEAD !!

After he caught a bad smell in a neighbours garden , he went to inspect , and there he was ..! we are very sad ... the strange thing is he was slumped head first into the flower bed that runs along the wall of neighbours parameter wall. theres some strange liquid around him ! , we dont think hes been poisoned as where we live is very private and the neighbours in question dont live here. We are wondering could he have been bitten by perhaps a snake , is this possible ???

Look for it yourself and if you find it keep it on a chain or keep the gate locked because if your rottie attacks someone you are looking at a canny stretch

Sorry to hear that Mezzo. At least you know what has happened to him and have closure, even though it is so sad. It must be awful for those who never see their dogs again.

Roomy a strange post from you following the post above from Mezzo.

Hi Mezzo,

Fristly I am so sorry to hear about your poor dog. To answer your question, yes it is possible for a dog to die from a snake bite, My friends dog was bitten a few years ago while running in long grass on their farm, by the time the family found him (Tan dog dry grass) he had already died.

The above messages are absolutely correct. Dogs do die of snake bites here, especially if no-one notices very quickly. However, I am surprised he wasn't heard to howl, because death isn't instantaneous. If he was close to a wall, a lump of poisoned meat could have been dropped over, even though you don't immediately suspect anyone at the moment.

I am very sorry about your dog. It sounds more like poison to me, I would have thought that he would yelped if a snake bit him and gone home. the lanate poison works very very quickly.

Sorry mezzo, i did,nt read right through the post,s, sorry for your loss, clearly the dog i have got belongs to someone? he is so sweet natured, i dont know how long he has been around, he had on a brown leather coller and a lead, friend,s took his lead off when he turned up at there house, in case it got caught on something, then when i first saw him a few day,s ago, i was on my way out, i looked for him after that until i found him as he looked so thin and weak i was sure he was going to die soon. i still have him if someone out there is looking. you can contact me on the number given in the earlier post.
