Can someone please recommend where I can buy some decent COOKED prawns. Family staying with us and they love their prawns!!!

So far the ones I have bought have no flavour whatsoever and yesterday, my most recent purchase, went straight in the bin. They were disgusting as they were slimy and had the texture of sago.....

Any recommendations please????

Thanks.

'I was sitting on Bondi Pier,

Sucking tubes of Foster's beer,

With a big bucket of prawns upon me knee,

But when I swallowed me last prawn,

I did a technicolour yawn,

And chundered in the blue Pacific sea!'

Most if not ALL prawns here are imported from places like Bangladesh/.Sri Lanka ..ie Warm Water "Farmed"Species...They are tasteless compared to "Cold Water" variety..........The best we have found are Polar prawns 17tl the large tiger prawns here are utter crap .... .not like back on my Island home..

You could well be right, 'stillluvithere'!

'XXXX' [Four X], as brewed down by the Brisbane railway station, is my 'tipple of choice'!

But both Fosters and XXXX have got to be 'superior swamp water' to 'Efes Effluent' - where are your tastebuds?

I never drink Efes as I am in full agreement. My favourite Australian beer is made in Fremantle by a pub/micro brewery called Little Creatures as I am a fan of real ale. Here I drink Gold Fassl, which isn't everyones forst choice

Crofter, I do hope someone gives you a sensible answer soon, because I'd also like to know if anyone sells anything other than the tasteless stuff which is all I've found so far.

Message 11..... Yes Little Creatures Beer. My sister introduced me to that last January, lovely stuff.

If yoo promised me that you would drink half a container-load then I would bring some over (I'll have the other half!)

Can't believe there are actually two people here who know about Little Creatures...it's now almost a Freo institution, and the beer really is great.

I'll go thirds in that container...

Whenever we want a treat such as big prawns, good salmon, proper smoked (not dyed) haddock etc , we get em from Bells. Never been disappointed in 4 years!

4X/Fosters are like drinking soap when compared with Efes (just my personal opinion) however I do prefer the Gold Coast beaches to Alagadi.... so life is full of compromise. I think the key wherever you are, is to to be upbeat about all the positives around you rather than dwell on the negatives. As the song goes 'love what you got, not what you want'....

I was recently at Kantara Castle looking over both the Northern & Southen coasts of the Karpaz (it was 25 deg C & I was gently sipping an Efes) & was thinking there is nowhere more beautiful that where I am now. But conversely I could have been thinking how depressed I would be when reading the next thread that the once funny (but the now sad, dull & boring ) NN will post on Cyprus 44.

So irrespective of your beer choice, the view from Kantara is magical & permanent, whereas the fool aka NN is very temporary.......so enjoy Northern Cyprus for all its beauty & ignore all the morons who may try to convince you otherwise...... :

ME, (23) that's a very positive attitude, and it does you credit. Efes ain't so bad, in my personal opinion it's a lot better than the bland Eurolagers you see about like Carlsberg and Heineken.

I'm impressed that you got to the top of Kantara in the recent weather. I was up at Buffavento about 7 weeks ago. That was a tough walk in the conditions then, I know I would never make it at this time of year.

And the view from the top was breathtaking, spoilt only by the sight of the ghastly Cratos Hotel. What a shame that the recent fire there did not carry it away completely!
