"Furthermore these bi-communal groups who have this naive attitude of blaming equally both sides as a means of keeping them together as a group make me sick. I totally disagree that both sides are to blame. It is by 99% the Turkish side and their local puppets that are to blame."

This is the thought of an average fascist cousin south of the border. God have patience because these people would even drive the allmighty to the devil.

I now realise the real Cyprus Problem. The young have been brainwashed beyond belief of their innocence that they don't even wish to negotiate.

Well the endgame has begun. First there is a meeting next month, then of course the IPC will close it's doors, which will be followed by the final meeting of the five interested parties to conclude that as there were only a few thousand claimants to the IPC, the property issue has also been solved.

Perhaps my fascist friends south of the border can roll up that decision into a cylindrical shape and

the greatest difficulty in discussing these sort of problems

is one person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist,

and one person's campaigner is another's troublemaker

but it's very unlikely the 500,000 cypriots and 100,00 foreigners

south of the green line are all fascists

and yes, speaking with caution it is beginning to look like any

property "issues" are solved, but not to the satisfaction of

claimants, and more by congealment than agreement though

Msg1: Indeed, such a realisation should not be a surprise. Isolation leading to suspicion is a natural human trait. One only needs to consider the perspective of the jungle inhabitants on first discovering some other inhabitants nearby.

Not since the recent documents were disclosed by the UK goverment. They can pull that one any more.

So who is to blame. ?

Maybe if both sides looked to their mistakes instead of each other things could move into 2011. As it is now they are firmly stuck light years in the past without hope for a future. I am a firm supporter for a solution for the Cy problem, but how things stand now we are looking at the new Berlin wall imho.

Since the failure of plan B ; a " Taiwan Solution " it looks like the only option left is international recognition of de facto partion. With the passing of the years, the younger generations of Cypriots-Greeks and Turks-would have no recollection of a once united island

All Cypriots are to be blamed, for allowing it to happen at the very least.Simple!

We accept responsibilities for our actions,we go further,we carry on blaming each other,we go nowhere and risk of losing our identity.

No Yorg, not all Cypriots are to be blamed. TMT and EOKA have full responsibility. Above them sit Turkey, Greece and UK and above those sits USA. Lets understand what exactly caused the problem and then we can perhaps begin to solve it. Blaming one side 99% is stupid and shortsighted. Perhaps if RoC had 40,000 obticians instead of lawyers the problem would have been solved by no. But no, we and up with 40,000 lawyers instead.

Pugwash,

Anybody who knows anything of what has happened in the past would not be so quick to exonerate UK of its activities in Cyprus in trying to split this island into two.

At least learn your subject before making comments.

Peter Albrecht's book 'Gegner für immer?' / Enemies for ever? is a good book to read. I don't know if it's available in English

It explained a lot to me, anyway.

There will be no peace between TC's and GC's as one nation.

people forget how europe was divided during the cold war,

forty years of intrigue, proxy battles, endless point-scoring

....vast armies ranged against each other, ready for action

but we are all friends now

dippersgirl, sooner or later we shall lose the Turkish, Greek, UK and USA influence and when we do, we can sort our difference out, no problem.

So don't worry about us, we scream and shout but really we love our fascist GC cousins to death. They will get on with us whether they like it or not.

Thanks Yorg but it has been one of those weekends no peace for the wicket and all that. I wouldn't mind but I did not get a chance to be wicket either, but I'll make up for Monday. Back to normality thank god.

'Divide and rule!' has and will continue to be the 'name of the game' - a pity GC's & TC's continue to be willing pawns in this game of 'post colonial geopolitics'!

They can't grasp the meaning of: 'United we stand - divided we fall!'

They have, for too long now, been conditioned into believing their leaders that cossetting themselves in mind-numbing national bigotry is the more palliative and easier option.
