Why are the ex pats living here continually trying to re-create the British way of life. We are living in the TRNC for goodness sake, yes it can be frustrating given the quirkiness of the Cypriot government and citizens!!!, but hey ho we chose to live here so please get over it and

enjoy!!!

msg 1,

So Turkish Cypriots in London shouldn't have their own cafes, bars and shops, etc. and stop living in areas where they are in the majority?

Re message 3, don't forget that the wedding was one of the most internationally televised events ever. In the KKTC and mainland Turkey nearly every school celebrated that day by installing big screens for the pupils to enjoy this historic event. My children enjoyed every moment of it!!!

As someone looking forward to the "quirkiness" of living in the TRNC, and having had property there for over 10 years, I have a lot of sympathy with the sentiments of Msg 1.

Newscoop.

Yeah! I have heard! But surely it''s a price we pay to live in someone else's country? At least we are fore-warned, we know what's coming and what has to be done! Is it not part of life on the island?

I know it's easy for me to say as I have it all to come, but 14 years as a "swallow" puts me in an "eyes open" position I think.

Been looking forward to moving over for years, hence the positive attitude!!!

Deniz1;

Crikey, things must have changed since I was in the UK, you mean that to get road tax, pay council tax, and get a TV license you now have to queue in a corridor before paying 70-100TL to have someone stick a needle in your arm then go back to the original corridor to be told to go to the capital in a few weeks and queue under a hot sun then wait in a room before parting with 200TL to get road tax/council tax/TV license?

In my day you wrote a cheque and that was it.

steveafc; you wouldn't by any chance be a goner (sic) would you?

Re message 32, my point exactly! That is how it is here, research before moving to another country would have told you that things are very different to living in the UK!!!

So, 'Cocklebay', don't you think it's high time TRNC bureaucracy 'moved with the times'?

England have had a hundred years to get things right (maybe more) if its considered right , the TRNC has had 10 if its lucky and all its got is a load of whingeing Brits continually knocking it, simples get used to the system or ship out, its their country to run their way, we're the immigrants whether we like it or not :(

Re Mess 37, Move with the times!!! Are you aware of the Islands history? Billybob has said it all and to quote mess 39 "get used to the system or ship out, it's their country to run their way, we're the immigrants whether we like it or not" So very well said!!!!

Cocklebay. I agree with you that people should research before they get there (that's why I am not there wasn't for me) and once there stop comparing everything with the UK, when the whingers and moaners start about NC then up crops a mention of the UK.
