Just had friends arrive at our villa for a weeks break, they have never been to TRNC before and the wife has been told she has to go to the police station for a previous traffic offense. How on earth can that happen when she has never been to the country before!

Does she own a car here, even though she's never been here?

e.g.:

When

What

Car Reg No.

Type of car

etc

???

Maybe someone with the same name? And it came up when they put the stuff into the computer at Immigration - wouldnt trust their records!! Probably never looked at passport numbers - OR even worse someone has stolen her identity!

i would pop into the local police station and take her passport and explain everything to them, you dont want her to have problems when she flys out of the country again,go early, you dont want her spending the week worrying about it.good luck

Like msg 4, she should go to the police station in Girne, maybe it is someone with the same name.

They should be able to give her details of where the offence took place etc.

Its happened to me too, although I live here I have never had a car in my name.

Just an update for those interested. It is sorted now, there was someone with the same name who had the traffic offence. The police have accepted that and hopefully there will be no more problems.

Thanks everyone.
