Hi Pipie,

A float is an amount of money usually kept for an emergency.

The Butler

Not wishing to be nosy (really) but may I ask what services you get for what seems to be a lot of money? We only have an apartment and pay for communal area cleaning, garden and pool upkeep, but it is a lot less than your monthly fee. Of course, you may well be getting a lot for your money. The reason I ask is that maintenance charges seem to vary a great deal from what I have read.

Regards

Avril/Anita - in your monthly maintenance charges is buildings insurance included?

Hi The-Wicks,

We have 3 outdoor pools on site and communal gardens which todate have not been landscaped properly, we have no other facilities on site. Unfortunately as we only have 57 properties on site this is the service charge we are being asked to pay. We have also been paying 10ytl a ton for water for two and a half years.

Hi The Butler,

Let me get this right 57 apartments @ £115-00 =£6,555-00. Our complex also has three pools, there are 33 apartments & the charges are £25-00 a month for one beds & £40-00 for the 3 beds. Could you not get together with other residents & set up your own maintance company.

Pipie - so they dont collect maintenance and insurance together - maintenance is completely separate - do you pay a one off fee or monthly for buildings insurance? Sorry to ask you all these questions! :(

Hi Boredhousewife , please dont apoligise for asking questions ,this is what the forum is all about .

We are given th option to buy through our M/C or go independently we pay once a year one off payment for buidings /contents for our 2 bed i think it was £180 and for the one bed i think it was £140 for buildings/contents , but will double check when hubby gets in . We chose to go through both M/C

Hi Bored Housewife,

Yes that figure does include Insurance although we do have our own building and contents insurance as Medviews isn't good enough cover. We would like to get public liability insurance from somewhere as well. Our site is made up of detached bungalows, detached villas and semi detached villas also some apartments. The service charge is different for the different properties. We own a detached bungalow. That price does include the council and property tax. We wish we could get our own management company in but unfortunately

we bought from Medview Homes and they will not let us move away.
