We can't go into the pool during the day as we have loads of bees round the edges. I have spoken last night to the chap who lives behind us and has the hives, got the Cyprus shrug, and he pointed out he has water next to the hives for them!

Last Thursday reported to the Belidiye who said they would send someone in 2-3 days!

Tried chlorine round the edges and that's okay until the pool overflows!

Any other suggestions (sensible) would be appreciated.

Chris, unfortunately there is little or nothing can be done,.the bees have chosen your pool as their main water source ,,,,They need water for making Honey and for keeping the hives cool,,As the bees are next door in hives, terminating them would mean destroying someone's honey producing colony ..........it's a tough one...Maybe your friendly "Apiarist" could re locate the hives...........

Thanks Martin,

I will try and have another word with him tonight if he is about, I know it is a bit selfish but the bees have to go as the weather gets hotter and I need to cool down!

Put a drop, and I mean a drop of fairy liquid in the pool. Thimble full will do.

Bees dont like soap.

Let me know if it works.

If you had an aviary, you could keep bee eaters!

Seriously though, If you could find an apiarist, he or she could re-locate the Queen?

I have seen strange black objects that look like a stack of upside down black rubber bowles, hanging from some trees near Bafra.

I asked what they were and told that they looked like the "Donkey Wasp" nests. As a result no Donkey wasps would go within 50ft of the tree as the wasps fight each other. At the same time, no bees went near that area too as the Donkey wasps eat the bees.

I saw the same things in the woods up at Kantara.

Dont know if they work but looks like the locals use them.

Msg 1: Buy a coupla three 'buzz-bomb' [aerosol] cans - the ones that zap cockroaches - pretty harmless to humans, unless they swallow the contents. Spray around your pool area - any insect that walks across your 'dreaded line' will succumb to 'permanent death'! The bees will soon get the message!

Actually did that this morning Tenakoutou got rid of them for an hour! At the same time discovered they were going inside the washing line pole (one of those whirly things) there is a series of holes right down the pole where you can adjust the height, so sprayed in there and quickly blocked all the holes with surgical tape!

Tried washing up liquid last night so no joy there Chegwin!

Bees still here but maybe a few less!

Chris

p.s. Still waiting on Lapta Belidiye reported Bees last Thursday and yesterday reported water leak still no joy!

Relocating the bees isn`t really an easy job, you have to take them miles away before you can bring them back and place them somewhere else in the garden and even then there`s no guarantee they wouldn't still use your pool for water. Odds are if they already have water by the hives like you've said the bees visiting your pool probably aren't from your neighbours hives.

Your best bet is to deal with it yourself, they`ve chosen your pool as their water source so place a large bowl/bucket of water at the edge of your pool with a few twigs floating in it. When they start using it to drink move it away from the pool about a foot each day until it`s at a safe distance. I wouldn't expect any joy from the belediye etc.

Chris, unless there's millions of the little buggers, ignore them. Unless you bother them, they won't bother you.

ps where exactly do you live, so I can avoid it in case my theory is amiss.

Chris, Honey bees are in a critical state of decline World Wide..... Moving the Queen is the best bet, rather than killing the colony...

Perhaps if you can build a small pond like structure with colours on the border of your property at the fence level and put some syrup in the water to attract them, they may prefer to use that instead. The only other way is to have some smoke which will not help you with your socialising.
