Suitable for Article in Cyprus Today? Could they not interview the police chief and find out what is going on? Yet another example of corruption in NC or another desperate attempt to get money to pay for police overtime?

RE msg 2, Kitty Kat Jac: (...) Same thing happened to me, they stopped me, i gave them all the documents only to be fined for not having mud flaps on a brand new car that was purchased in the TRNC!! (...) ===> What's the use of this remark? Sue your car dealer or sue the Police. The announcement of such an act would make sense.

DC have you any idea how long it takes to sue anybody in TRNC? And everybody in business knows that. It puts people off when large sums involving houses are concerned. Who can be bothered for the cost of a fine. The dealer should put mudflaps on free or be named and shamed on this forum.

Its just not the TRNC Police. I got stopped yesterday in a radar speed trap County Durham Police. I was in the middle of 3 cars all doing the same speed. I had just given my car its autumn polish. I was the only one stopped. The PC said I am not going to put your speed on the ticket, as at this speed (52) you would have to attend court. I will just put that you were exceeding the speed limit, then you can settle it by just paying this £60 ticket. I smiled and thanked him! I can't say thoughts of the Christmas Party, did not pass my mind! Its not just The TRNC police! wyn

Slightly different issue but is it illegal to use your mobile phone whilst driving in NC? If so the police could make a fortune!Driving with mudflaps is hardly dangerous whereas using your phone is.

I have to say on my recent visit to TRNC I was appalled at some of the driving I witnessed. A lot of the dangerous driving at high speed I noticed was by left hand drive cars with TR number plates. One guy overtook me at high speed 3 other cars weaving in an out then aimed his car at 4 people crossing the road. He just missed them...I was appalled and shocked. I am all for the TRNC police for clamping down on bad drivers but having no mud flaps is a joke! nunu
