KPET petrol station opposite the colony hotel broke my windscreen...

I put my car into be washed at this garage, i came back and they had cracked my windscreen. Instead of apologising the manager got really aggressive and called over a few of his boys and tried to intimidate me.

He then told his workers in Turkish that i was calling them names and said they were dishonest. I assume in an attempt to galvanise his position. So now i have five angry blokes shouting an pointing at me, telling me i should go back to England.. It was comical really, i swear to God if it wasn't for fear of jail (Anthony Davy style) i would have battered hell out of all of them right there on the forecourt!

Bottom line is: Don't use KPET opposite the colony, they are dishonest and racist!

Suggest report to Traffic police in Girne for a report number and contact your insurers at the same time. You can also, of course, ask to see the Head of K-Pet here and explain what transpired. However, thanks for the heads up about this garage, they get no custom of mine.

Hollie: Something very strange here. If it is the Kpet Garage adjacent to The House restuarant I would be amazed that you would be treated in such a manner as I have known one of the owners (Erk) for years, both as a customer and friend and have never had anything but kindness shown to me by him or his Family. One of the Family are always on the premises, what did the guy who you had the disagreement with look like and what time of day was it?

There has to be some misunderstanding as what you are saying took place seems so out of character.

I will make Erk aware of your comments so that he has the option to respond if he wishes but before I do can you please reconfirm which Kpet you mean.

Thanks

Gary

Woodspeckie: There's a roundabout at both ends of the road, just want to confirm as I assume that Hollie means the small one at the top of the high street.

As both Kpets are virtually opposite the Colony I was only seeking to clarify which petrol station it was, that is why I asked whether it was the Kpet besides The House Restuarant. Surely this cannot be too difficult to confirm!

I agree with you Omaintenance, twenty posts but we still do not know which one of the three petrols stations is the one. So now all three may lose turnover!

I have known the family who own this petrol station for over 5 years and they are extremely honest, helpful and (in my experience) would never dodge an issue if they were in the wrong. In addition, they have full insurance for the garage and if they were in the wrong would pay up.

I have spoken to one of the owners and he informs me that the person involved was a 22-24 years old man (so obviously not you Hollie).

The owner apparently offered to show him the CCTV footage of the forecourt to prove nothing happened to his car whilst on the premises.

In addition, apparently the owner drove his car away (after having been washed) and went back to the petrol station 6 or 7 HOURS afterwards. Surely if the windscreen was damaged he should have noticed when driving away.

As has already been stated here, there are always 2 sides to every story.

Hi guys,

It is the garage next to the House opposite the colony hotel.

I can assure you all that this did occur.

After the initial heated exchange the owner/manager told me that he would check the cctv and that i should return in one hour. I came back the next day and spoke with his brother (i believe) who was a lot more accommodating, however they had not checked the cctv as promised and told me to come back later.

I appreciate that some of you may know these guys personally and have a good relationship, i for one have used their valet services for the last 5 years without a problem. However, i can assure you that i was told verbatim:

GO BACK TO ENGLAND

THIS IS MY COUNTRY MY RULES

I asked at one point, are you threatening me and the guy replied yes i am...

I should point out i do not own a rival petrol station, and have absolutely no agenda.. I am simply reporting on an incident that happened to me. If you choose not believe it, that is your prerogative..

So Hollie, the way these posts are going, it would appear you are the person who was involved in this incident. So why are the owners saying if was a young man? Are you saying they are lying on this point.

If it was you, I am astounded at your comment "i would have battered hell out of all of them right there on the forecourt!".

Yes, it is my prerogrative as to whom I believe and, at this point in time, it certainly isn't you.

No, Jock1, I haven't indicated any such thing.

Read messsage 1 from Hollie - I only quoted back to her, what she said. In fact, if you read what I said, it was I was astounded at her comment and was querying whether it was actually herself who was the person involved because I had been told it was a young guy and that sort of comment would easily come from a guy. It is not the sort of comment I would expect friom a 31 female.

Perhaps I am missing something here but a poster who has admitted they do not have an account and used there girlfriends to try and advise people on a situation where they had damage done to their car and yet they get the inquisition about the location when they made it pretty obvious which establishment they refer to and then they are questioned about profile information and yet even after admitting their mistake because they don't have an account they are disputed.

Should they have joined just to point this out, how many of you would have cr*pped all over their comment as a first time poster.

They have given information that you may or may decide to use, they did as many people state, see the management, not post on here, they were threatened and told to go away and yet it is still not enough for some of you.

I do hope those who have the sense to see the truth behind the comment use it as an aid for them in the future.

proger1;

"they were threatened and told to go away and yet it is still not enough for some of you"

Do you believe everything you are told without hearing the otherside of the story?

I originally only commented because it seems so out of character for anyone that I have come in to contact with at the garage. I am sure that the owners would like to get to the bottom of this as they have a good name and it is possible that the person(s) alleged to have made these comments were not authorised to do so, then again they could have been goaded in to saying something they shouldn't have. I hope that we hear the owners side of this as things are rarely as straight forward as they seem.

Garythegeezer, what I believe is not the point.

I am sure that hollie's boyfriend would be interested to get the owners perspective.

I get the feeling you are a friend of that person and as such I understand why you wish to get both sides, nothing wrong with that but why is the poster chastised for trying to advise, after trying to speak to whomever was in charge on the day and then the next.

I am one of the foremost critics of attacks against local businesses but if you complain to them, get told to come back, get no recourse and then get threatened you have done pretty much everything you can.

As I said earlier, I hope those members with sense to see that this is a genuine intent to advise and not just a typical complaint gain something. If the owner has the opportunity to rectify what happened then perhaps it will aid all.

I believe anything is possible anywhere, and there is always 2 sides to every story.

As i said, unless we all hear the facts, why do some many comment and offer damming comments.

Best thing is leave it to the people who have the problem.

Why should this post stop me from filling up my tank if im on empty and happen to be outside this petrol station, your problems are not mine and mine are not yours!

Your feelings are right, as I stated in msg8

" I have known one of the owners (Erk) for years, both as a customer and friend "

I don't beleive I have chastised hollie or whoever is using her account. I would be shocked if his/her claims are proved correct as it would be an appalling abuse to suffer. Lets hope both sides can sit down and view the cctv and see if sheds any light on the saga as at the moment the stories seem so far apart.

It just seems strange to me that anyone would immediately make "racist" comments if they had just received a straight forward complaint delivered in a reasonable manner, was something said to make the complaint escalate in such a manner?

Oh well, one way or another the truth will come out.

Msg 39.

Gary it doesn't really matter about the cracked windscreen as far as I'm concerned, it's the comments made afterwards if they are true, and if they are true then the manager needs to have a severe word to those that made them or risk losing ex pat custom.

tattlad: Yes I agree with you and I am sure that if the truth is as stated the owners would seek to settle the matter as they are a decent Family. I am not going to comment anymore about the original post and I hope that both parties settle the issue asap.
