I was commissioned to arrange the build of 4 pools and after looking around decided on concrete type pools rather than liner ones. I then listened on this forum and selected 4 pool builders who had projects just starting . I have watched them all observing their methods and workmanship. However one of the pool builders is still building a pool that was 'started' last November is this normal or should I just reject them ? their pool however does seem well constructed and substantial. The other 3 started later , 2 are complete and 1 is apparently waiting for the owner to take residence before they can fill and finish.

If you use Fox Pools they will do it very quickly and are top notch (liner pools) which I think are better than tiles. Contact Nurettin on 0533 860 3088. You wont get a better pool in the TRNC. Im sure you will find lots of Cyp 44 users can verify this.

From 5 weeks to 1 year.

Depends on your builder.

A normal 8x4 or 10x5 should only take maximum 2 weeks to finish, but of course were in cyprus now.

It depends on the pool builder.

All i would recomend in cyprus is a pool liner,PVC not tiles.

IMHO.

Have recommended Nurettin before and will continue to do so......if you want a lovely pool...Foxxx is it......we are very pleased with ours......and so easy to keep clean. As Mags says, give Nurettin a call.....it does not take months to build these pools......and he is very reliable. After having the liner pool, I definitely would not go for tiles.

Depends on whether you want it level or not?!?!?!?

Of all our friends, we only know of one tiled pool which has never given problems in 7 years. (we have quite a lot of friends)

Dizzycows.

speaking on behalf of what i hear david talk about in the office,if i was having a pool built here it would have to be a liner pool,he thinks the majority of builders here in TRNC are not pool buildres, building a house and a pool is very different, the problem seems to be the finishing of the pools in davids opinion.

Most pools he has looked @ have been grouted with a normal grout instead of a waterproof or swimming pool grout,or that is what he tells me.

With there being so much movement here after building ,he thinks a pool liner is the best option,no cracks,no missing grout,no loose tiles. No leaks.

No daubt youll get a builder who will tell you his pool will not leak.

If you find that builder, ask him to build your pool and once finished, please wait 2 weeks for payment after the pool has been filled and run on overflow if a overflow pool.

Watch your water levels and levels of your balance tank once you turn the pool off over flow.

Also look @ the Cont

The pump room for any of the walls in the pump room becoming wet which face towards the pool.

Pools in TRNC can be a nite mare.

Thats the beauty of a pool liner.

I dont think theres a conventional pool owner /Tiled/ in cyprus that could honestly say thet.

Korman construction built our pool in colaboration with Cyprus pools. Never lost a tile yet.

Don't you think its who you get on the day? If the labour force are not supervised properly then the quality will be poor. I suggest you employ a good architect to oversee whoever you choose.

msg8....Omaintenance....Actually there is little difference between building a house or a pool here in TRNC,

ie; Most houses don't keep the water OUT...

Whereas most pools don,t keep the water IN............

Hi Russett, do you mean the one on Sevilla site in Esentepe, do not know what is going on but hope its sorted soon as all work on our road has stopped until this is completed, so not very happy villa owners at the other side as they have to wait for the company to finish it so they can get the road done near them, it does look very good so far, just wish they would come back and hurry up and do some work on it to complete instead of leaving it!!!!!!!!!

As we are all waiting to get the site finished!!!

Really its what you like the look of, we liked tiles, had ours built in 2006, no problems with the tiles, leaking or the grouting, coming off. Its the pool cleaners who have been our problem, arrive to black and green around edges and corners, dirty steps and gully's never ever cleaned out, only when you are actually there at the property and asked to clean again they do so.......

Thanks for putting up that link Amanda, didn't realise that pool liners looked so good, think that being told 'a liner' I imagined them to look a bit like the liners you line a pond with ....lol

I suppose those with leaking pools could just line it with this, or would they need to take off the old tiles first? ...

Can anyone tell me what the price difference is +/- for a liner pool versus a tiled pool?

Also, does this mean you can have almost any shape/size you want?

Can people opt to scrap the tiled pools and have a liner pool in its place or is it a case of ' you're stuck with your first choice'?

Very interesting post.

Message 23....Nurettin is a member on this board......Nurtaspools I think. Why not speak to him, he can give you all the information you need. Yes, you can have a choice of different shapes and sizes, liners with different designs.....jacuzzis.....seats, steps...lots of choices.

Mags gave his number above......0533 860 3088. He is very genuine - a great guy. If you want to see his pools I am sure he will bring you around to our small development....built by Nurtas......with 6 pools on it.

Im sorry i do not know the inns and outs of the liner pool business, but i do listen when the subject of liner pools comes up,david and now i am also starting to think a liner pool is the only way to go in cyprus,as for prices i do not know, can you re-line a tiled pool with a liner >i dont know, but i bet Nurtaspools can give you the answer.

Also with the pool liners you can choose to have the bottom of the pool 1 design and the walls another design, heres so more liner designs, very very nice

after much research ,ordered a liner pool from nuritten last winter, he took the trouble to take us to see several completed pools and happy customers , so after giving the go ahead he ordered the pool and kept us informed while we were back in the uk as to the progress of delivery etc , as the components had to be shipped from the states, he then gave us a start and completion date which, apart from a couple of days due to the weather he kept to , he was on site personally most of the time , and the standard of the finish was first class, we are at golf villas esentepe , if anyone wants to see the finished result. might even drag myself out of the pool to say hello.
