Hello everyone, new to the forum, but have been reading for a while! Been to North Cyprus the last couple of years, and really enjoyed it, this year me and a few friends are going out there as they are able to drive there now! We stay in the Bahceli area, and just wondering where the best/closest places are to go to eat/drink etc. Last year we enjoyed Emilys bar, just a short walk up the road, perfect for a few drinks and a bite to eat, and for the football! But i've heard this has new ownership now! Whats it like? Also the Antique resturant was brilliant, they even picked us up from the resturant and dropped us back last year as we didnt have a car! So, without venting too far out, where are the best places to go? Obviously we are going for the heat and the quiet, but would love to know best places to go for a nice meal, or a few drinks on a night, meet a few fellow english-speakers, obviously with one of the party driving so tee-total for them Thanks in advance

If you want to see the hidden face of Karpaz, I'm told 1hour 20 mins to Dipkarpaz from Bahceli on the new and finished road, why not have a Tractor Safari. You start at the Damla Restaurant(village map supplied with booking) on a tractor and trailer. The trailer has cushioned seats and a sunroof. The Safari takes you up into the Karpaz mountain ridge where your first stop is at 'Yellow/Red Rock'. This is a most curious rock formation and we are still waiting for a geologist to tell us the origin of it. You are served freshly made Turkish coffee there and then move on along the spine to the very old and tiny mountain church of Agios Philon of Agridhia with some hidden ikons. The view up on the ridge is stunning. You see both sides of the coast and on a clear day even the mountains of Turkey. We travel through wonderful countryside, with the chance to see donkeys, some with young, indigenous birds like francolin, red legged partridges, birds of prey and if you are lucky a hoopoe. Cont'd

For lunch, served to you at a table and chairs, you stop close to a lovely little beach. Pakize & Bülent serve excellent homemade food & icecold drinks. Pakize's Bulgur Köfte are not to be missed. Here you also have a chance to swim in a beautiful part of the sea. Rock tombs/houses and ruins from the ancient city of Ourania can be seen. You may also see the local goatherd bring his large herd of goats to the fresh water spring nearby. He comes riding on his donkey and if you are keen, you have the opportunity to have a little ride. On your way back you visit another of the ancient cities, Afendrika with it's old byzantine churches. If you feel adventurous you can climb down into the old crypt and even an area that is reputed to have housed prisoners and an escape tunnel. this story is general gossip in the village and needs to be verified. Then it's back to the Damla for a final drink. Call Eva on 0533 820 6798 for bookings and more info http://www.flickr.com/photos/karpazsafari/s

Pipie, I will not be like you I will not lower myself now to call you by anything other than your forum name, you have shown time and time again to be "lets say to be kind" a fantacist who twists everything that does not fit with your notion, also someone who evades all the straight questions put to you. You also seem to have me mixed up with another person, obviously on the say so of others but youre so wrong, the same as youre wrong about scoty and several others, it seems as if you have a huge chip on your shoulder and you cant let go, probably because you have been shown up to have been wrong so many times, and you have been the main reason that one of the "sights" your family own on has been going down the drain for the past 2+ years, I would also suggest that you are one (only one) of the reasons this board is also going down the drain. Please tell me what "deal" I welched on I would love to hear it from you as you are so well informed.

Cyprusbrad Tatlisu is a little bit far out as you asked for places close by, and the carob tree is not doing food yet, Emily's is one of my favourite places it hasn't changed hands its still owned by the Kayim's but they are back to running it themselves and doing a good job although they just lost another good English worker recently. Antique is great as well and a regular of ours Tony the best chef they ever had is back in the evenings and for sunday lunches, another good place is the Moulos we go occasionally and have never been disappointed Enjoy

Cheers guys, lost of good info! Yeah I loved Emilys last year, always nice for a quiet drink! Just thought it had changed hands as the English guy, cant remember his name has left, really liked him! What would be the best place near Esentepe of a night then? Which places are more bar than resturant etc? Esentepe Villa Hotel is somewhere I have to go again this year, from what I remember, great food and amazing view! I think as we are there for 3 weeks it will be mostly spent my the pool/beach and a few nights in bar and resturant! Should be lovely! What is the best beach in regards to Bahceli? Went Alagadi(Turtle Beach) last year, liked that, and quite close, which is best one for price, beach etc?! Also, is it Vogue that has a beach and club? We went to a place called Shayna randomly last year and I think it ended up being a swingers bar which was interesting! What is in Tatlisu? When been with family we never really went East!

Cyprus brad, Mark & his wife Karen who used to work in Emily's went to Alkan Turtle beach restaurant as partners with Bin Ali, he has also left there now. A good little beach is at Kaplica if you have a car, there is a nice hotel and beach bar there and it's free, unless you need to rent sunbeds, with the new road going East it will take you about 20 minutes to drive from Bahceli Vogue beach club are now doing watersports etc.

cyprusbrad- all above are great places. for ' adventure' head for tatlisu, turn left at the junction, turn left again at round about past metran supermarket / shop and stay on the 'old coast' road as much as possible - take your pick of small local places - you will be impressed.

Oh yes, completely missed that! Shame! He was a good laugh, hopefully stayed in the area? Tatlisu sounds good then, will definately check it out! Are there any events going on in late August early September? Last year we went to see the Sean Paul concert which was really good! Not just music, anything really that may be interesting to see! Msg 19 - What sort of things Scoty? Sounds like its worth a look!! Brad
