| Are people who are non residents allowed to buy and run a car in North Cyprus. We own a Villa, but a the moment use it for holidays. |

| Yes you can but if you will be driving here for any length of time I would advise you to get a TRNC driving licence. |

| i think it is if you have been here longer than 3 months you need the trnc licence. |

| Trouble is if you apply for a TRNC licence they take away your UK licence and send it back to DVLA for cancellation. Oh and they don't give you the same driving classifications as you have in the UK (unless you are TC of course). If you are not in NC for longer than 3 months at a time, stick with your UK licence. |

| You only need a TRNC driving licence if you are here for a period of over 3 months at one time. You cannot get a TRNC licence without Residency anyway. Under 3 months, there is absolutely no problem driving on your UK licence.
It is not true that your UK licence will have to be given up if you get a TRNC one - where on earth did this strange story come from? The TRNC authorities only want a photocopy of it. |

That is a strange story. They cannot take your UK licence off you. If you go to the south anytime you are certainly required to use your UK licence to get insurance, at least they insisted last time we went.
As for buying a car, no problem. Many people who have holiday homes buy one as ultimatley it may be cheaper than a rental every visit. |
