Has anyone contacted Nethouse about their new summer campaign in Cyprus Today. It seems a little ambiguous as it doesn't seem to indicate cleary whether this is wireless or ADSL. Maybe one of the agents could comment?

(Wings) Phil Duhig, how are you today ?

What you think that all of a sudden, NC is flooded with bandwidth ?

I can tell you that it isn't - 10 meg connections when a base station radio can only handle 80 meg (in real terms) so, 8 customers per base station or, 64 with an 8:1 contention ratio

And a 5.8 Ghz radio frequency that is flooded !

All the more reason to look at non TR / 'TRNC' routed alternatives, like Ka band 2-way sat internet !

Could you please tell us when you have installed / used this new sat internet service - that has only been available since 1st June... ?

It's just that any negative posts you've made have been countered with the CORRECT info and we've never head back from you....

I REALLY suggest you try to become a dealer - before someone gets in first..

Phil, I could never be a professional drummer because I don't get paid, I do it, purely, for the enjoyment and for charity.

Reading your post, some may think that you hate me in fact, I have just received a phone call from a friend whose opinion is that your post is downright rude, fortunately, recently, I have been taught to be cautious, so, I will wait til we've had the chance to meet up and have a chat !

newscoop. Just wanted a simple answer from anyone that was all. Was that possible. No. Washerman is a little miffed because he still thinks I hacked The Internet Club Server and destroyed the network. Needless to say that was some years ago and was pure fantasy.

He paid a visit to my house and threatened physical violence. In fact it was because I left the original "Pearl" band and so his son couldn't perform without a good drummer. Perhaps he'll realise one day that not everyone afraid of his size or ridiculous threats.

Steveafc the adverts in the paper do not say its ADSL, in fact they heavily imply that its a wireless system. Yes the prices are cheaper than previously, but internat access charges do in fact tend to drop over time, or stay similar but with increased download and upload rates for the same money.

As to what level of service they can provide with this sytem that is impossible to know, however nethouse historicaly have a resonably good reputation I would say, though I have never used them personaly.

I hope this will lead to a shift in prices in general for net access in the TRNC. Good luck to them I say.

Steveafc I realise I may have misunderstood your post. In general ADSL does have the potential to offer a better more consistent net service at a lower cost. THe big problem with ADSL here is the state owned telco and how they reeact when their is a fault. I used ADSL happily here of 1.5 years at which time my line developed a fault. My providert could do nothing except inform the telco and wait for them to fix the problem. When I went to the telco office mysefl every two days, to nag them, on the third day they simply said ' we cant fix it, we are disconnecting your from ADSL'. I strongly suspect the truth was closer to, we cant be arsed to fix it quickly so its easier to just stop your service all togeather. Thus I went to a wireless system.

Thats what I thought erolz (msg 28). Then if you check the website and click on the links below the main advert for ADSL/HOME and WDSL/HOME your faced with the original pricing structure for the last year. http://www.nethousenetworks.com/index.asp?page=169

Msg 29, sharing of ADSL ports (within the telephone exchange switch rooms) was very common in the UK when BT first announced that ADSL had become available - that was only 2 years after BT stated that the maximum speed you would ever get on a copper land line was 9kps - and I have no doubt that in the earlier days of ADSL here, port sharing was not only common but provided double monthly payments on a single port - at the very least.

Now there are plenty of spare ADSL ports so things should naturally get better, I would even guess that "we can't fix it" really meant that the other guy, who was sharing the port, was a citizen and had a bit more pull than you did - that's life. I have transferred across to ADSL from WDSL at the same speed and am happy with the service - so far.

I was not aware that sharing a port at the DSLAM was possible with ADSL ? The claim that BT was saying you could only get max 9kbps on copper phone line a mere two years before ADSL was released can not be right. 56kbps modem were available two years beofre ADSL was released in UK and 33kbps were common.

I personal doubt the issue was one of port sharing but i guess it could be. Like I say I was perfectly happy with the ADSL service for 1.5 years of use. I am gald you are happy with yours and I hope you do not get a fault on your line or if you do KibTel respond in a better manner than they did in my case.

Erolz.......I posted my telephone number in this thread, can you give me a ring please then, we can arrange a meet-up for a chat.

Wings.......can you give me a ring too, I've got some friends who need their properties looking after, there's six houses all together, they rent them out from time to time so, it'll be a nice little earner for you - something that you wouldn't want to miss out on

Then Washerman you'd better speak to the property maintenance company who has looked after them for just over 5 years now. Im sure they would love the extra business. Oh and I believe their employees are paid through an English Bank if thats any help so they can break TRNC permit laws. I dont know which company it is and frankly I'm not interested but the intimation you have made is baseless, now if you have anything to say about the thread then say it and go about your business.

No Thanks Washerman I'll pass on that, after the stunt pulled on the 27th October 2006 at 2020 hours outside my front gate with Ron Gray and you're son. Completed with a threatening text message sent while I was in company with a Detective at Girne Police Station at approx. 2115 hours writing a statement from a turkish cypriot source associated with you. The evidence of which I have a copy of is still in my possession and one is on file at the Police station if you want to go and see it. Perhaps erolz would too.

Wings.............Friday the 13th October was the date that you used my password (obtained from your computer via a keylogger) to log into our web hosting account and change the front page of our web site at the time - it inconvenienced us for a day - big deal, but as I understand it, you were hauled into the police station and given a telling off.

Get over it. What you have to ask yourself is was it really worth it ?

and yes, I gave you a telling off ! So what ?

I dont know when you were hacked Washerman. People will believe what they want to believe. Like I said in message 42 I also didn't mention that Detective Yalcin was ready to go to your house "with a firearm" inside his jacket sling and give you a little more than a "telling off" as you put it. What I was asked to do by the Police was to confirm if I had worked for you or not on the night before "your visiting swat team" at 2020hrs.

But the fact is Washerman there was no motive and it was most certainly an outside source as Nethouse made it clear to you I believe at the time as you said you went to visit them didn't you? All you were really miffed about was the loss of a drummer in "Pearl", in which your son was going to be promoted together with The Internet Club which I did not want to be involved in and would not be bullied into by you. The web server incident was a totally separate incident from another source and was an excuse to vent your anger about that now wasn't it.

Just to add to the above. Going to someone's house as you did is why countries have Laws to protect residents in whatever capacity against intimidation. I am retired here and I have no wish to be associated with you or your activities and never would. I have never done anything which you think may have caused you or your family or customers of The Internet Club at that time when it was owned by you any harm disruption or damage. I have certainly never worked for you. Now you get over it and become a better drummer it sounds awful!

I have sent an email to Izzet about this incident already. Its not a perceived problem as you put it and I resent the implication. This was a hijack and the member concerned in the issues continues to harrass not only me but others who are frankly a little disturbed at how moderators view these situations. Its not perceived as you put it. Its for real. Now I respectfully request that if your going to moderate do it without predjudice or forego the privelige

I am not a moderator but I do get peaved at people that have personal issues with other members and when those issues cannot be controlled then it becomes a detriment to the board. It appears as though you have had an offer to sort it out off board but you have declined. For the sake of present members and possible future members then I suggest it is best to deal with it off board.

I believe that I have a right to reply. I wouldn't be getting involved otherwise.

Wings.........you are one very strange person and I think that readers can sense that.

Visiting swat team ? You mean 'your' friend (Ronnie) who came to reason with you over the way that you had deceived him, abused the trust that he put in you and made 'him' look foolish by 'stealing' the password to our US web hosting account (nothing to do with the Internet Club's network in TRNC)

Why do you keep mentioning my drumming ? It really does give the game away. Accustions from a 'very' disgruntled and 'very' sad individual.

I know, under the UK Governments austerity drive, that they are scrutinising UK benefit claims, but it's nothing to do with me old chap !

Now, don't print any more rubbish otherwise, I am forced to reply (yet again)

Has anyone else used this Nethouse Summer Campaign yet?

Deniz1, thanks for the info.

If it is definately wireless it is too good for me to miss, I currently pay Nethouse 500TL for 6 months (83TL per month) for 1 MBit. Are they now really offering 2 MBit for 65TL (or 52TL if I pay for 12 months)?

Mine hasn't run out yet, but at that price I would be better off forfeiting the remaining 6 weeks and paying again under the new price offer.

I have recently "upgraded" from 1mbs to 3mbs, lucky me, it was even cheaper.

Slight problem.....when I try to actually download (as opposed to meaningless speed tests) I am actually now getting around .25mb.....Bargain...NOT.

yenibob msg64 is this performance consistent throughout a 24hr period ? What I mean is do you get better speeds on an actual download at say 3am in the morning than 8pm at night ? Also are you sure that the site you are downloading from is not the limiting factor or contributing to it ? Some sourcves just to not 'put out' the data at a high rate and some do so but vary greatly depending on load and others can consistently 'put out' downloads at high speeds.

3am.....are you mad sir??

I have tried various times, sites etc, to no avail.....It would seem to be a standard TRNC con (a bit like the D-Smart TV system, where the Famagusta purveyors are still lying to their (mugs) customers.

No yenibob I am serious. Personally as much as I can I try and scehdule my heavy downloading for 'off peak' hours as best I can. I do this in an understanding of the shared nature of internet provision and the costs involved to the provider of managing 'peak load' vs 'average load' on the different sections of their network.

In any case I suggested testing it at different times (and you can use software to shedule such things, you dont have to do it manualy btw) in that it might give some indcation as to where the problem is and thus may help in getting it resolved.

Erolz. I already use quiet times to download large files, but since my "upgrade" I can't even watch a short Youtube video without lots of buffering.

Just an update, this package appears to have some type of download limit. When I first got it (the 3mbs package), speedtest was consistently showing those rates. Now almost a month later, I'm only getting .6-1.0mbs download rates.

I called the Nethouse tech support and they told me there is a max usage cap and after that your download rate gets throttled WAY down. He said that tomorrow it should be back to normal.

I think I'm going to see if I can just change back to a normal package so I can have consistent download rates.

Thanks for that info, did they say what the cap was? If not would Nethouse care to comment.

BTW, for the past few days I have been very happy with my package of 3mbs (I watched the whole of yesterdays Grand Prix with no buffering) Well done Nethouse.

I hardly dare ask after reading some of the above but....

Which is the most reliable and best for downloads for my internet, prefer wireless unless it's very inferior to plug in. I like to use my computer as much as I like so no limits for surfing would be great and the ability to watch things online would be great without it buffering all the time.

Thanks guys

Msg #70.

Unfortunately when I asked how much I had been downloading and what the cap was, the language barrier got in the way. I believe he said he could not see how much I had downloaded already.

I'm going to go by the Nethouse agent at the DVD store and see if they can help sort it out for me.

I'll post back later.

Matt

I popped down to the DVD store/Nethouse agent. He said yes, that if you go above 7GB/day you get cut off or at the very least severely restricted on your bandwidth. I asked if he knew if I could change my plan back to the old one and just credit what was left of my contract (I understood that if I did that I would be paying more, and having less time for the same bandwidth). He said he did not know.

So I went off to the Girne Nethouse office. When I explained that I wanted to change my plan because my bandwidth was getting cut off, she said that is not true, that the Ekopack(?) plans are all unlimited data. I told her I talked with tech support this morning and that was what they said (that there is a bandwidth limit). She called tech support, talked with them for a couple minutes and end result was I went home, 5 minutes later their field tech guys showed up and I got a new antenna and modem.

Shortly after that I had my 3mbs connection back. Great job Nethouse!
