Hi I have been pointed to this and another forum as being usefull for gaining information on the TRNC, so as a new member I look forward to gleaning what I can as I decide on future moves etc

Hi Mick and welcome, Yes this is a very good forum for the TRNC and there is a wealth of information on here, if you use the search facility you will find that any questions you may ask have probably already been covered in the past.

Also there are a huge number of members who will be only to pleased to help you but unfortunately there are a few plonkers as well and a few who will profess to know it all but know nothing.

I think it is a great site to get a feel for daily life in the TRNC and preparing yourself for visits or coming to stay permanently (great updates on utilities reuirements, legal / tax issues, costs etc, new places to visit / eat / buy and a great link to like minded people if you have a problem to solve or question to ask). You just need to sift out the wheat from the chaff and accept that some people have a cross to bear / axe to grind etc (but that's life).

Seriously, the problem on here is that you ask a sensible question and you get an answer. Then you have no idea whether the person who answere is accurate, up to date, a complete idiot, malevolent or just plain barmy.

Micklark, dont put too much stock by the people who give answers and advice to a lot of things on here most of them are lonely, bored, skint, or just like to see their names up in lights and many are very dishonest, there are some good honest people but in time you will figure that out for yourself and seperate the wheat from the chaff, good luck.

You will learn quickly that you shouldn't beleive everything posted on here. Unfortunately there are lots of people that think they know everything and sadly for them don't.



There are a few of people who try to put nasty comments on everything. Eventually you will see that they are just sad individuals.

Thank you all for your replies, it seems as if many of you dont have a lot of faith in this forum, it's a shame really.

I have noticed whilst reading through many of the posts that I am interested in, via the search engine at the top, that it seems to be a certain dozen or so people who post all the time in reply to questions etcetera and they show their ignorance by making personal attacks, this is really sad as it only serves to negatively affect the TRNC and show up the intellectual limitations of the posters.

There also seems to be a pack like mentality amongst a number of members, they seem to turn on anyone who dares to differ in view to them or their friends/cyberfriends.

And for those of you who feel the need to attack this post, please think before you post in reply, I am a new member, granted, but I have been following this and other boards for the past 3 years.

Post 12 thank you for the information about the BRS, post 15 well put !

It really depends on what you are looking for. Most of the threads seem to be promotions for restaurants and bars. This year we have been inundated with dog threads. Stray dogs, lost dogs, abandoned dogs, anything relating to dogs has been very popular.



People seem to get ecstatic every time a new road is completed or a new restaurant opens or closes. If you want to rent or buy a villa or an apartment these threads are very popular too. Lots of questions about where to buy certain products from and which "club singer" is singing when and where.



Advice to Tourists is usually very good and informative.



If you are looking for debate or discussion regarding the history and political situation in Cyprus, then the forum will offer you little. Similarly local news is rarely posted on.
