We're having enough trouble trying to find somewhere for Christmas, let alone new year. I don't think they have started advertising yet.

Newbird why not stay home & have a party? That way you don't need to worry about taxis etc, the kids can go to bed when they're tired and you can have a knees up and see in the new year! (You could invite all us Cyprus44 buddies ha ha) Maggie

Most restaurants will do Xmas for the ex pats & noone seems to advertise in the same way as the Uk (thank god) until a few weeks beforehand. Check out Cyprus Today for adverts nearer to Xmas. New Year is great in TRNC, you can't beat being in the harbour seeing the fireworks & the bands playing the square, which is all free.

Best fireworks and atmosphere in the square near the big TV screen, grab a seat at one of the couple of outdoor cafes facing the belediye and relax. The fireworks are great, going off the roof of the belediye building, the whole world walks by and everyone is happy. Might see you there this year. Hope they didn't change anything i am talking about two years ago. Dinner at the Ship( it was ok) and then beer and fireworks in the square.

hi, no definite plans as yet, but the old mill will be tickets only, a set price for food and drink. we will be having a dj playing mainly 80's and 90's. Theme to be confirmed, watch this space in the next few weeks. can highly recommned the harbour too, for fireworks and great atmoshpere. Will put more details on forum once decided. Thanks Sarah

We were at our villa last new year ~(and going this year) We went to DiFigaros. It was a great night - all inclusive with food, entertainment and partying into the small hours. Good mix of locals and British as well.

Had the last 2 NY Eve at Belidise in Girne, Beer at Windows Bar is cheap! Last year the firworks went off about 23.50. Someone must have been on a promise!! Whatever, it was double New Year hugs and kisses, as the fireworks went off on the assumption of midnight and then again at Midnight!!!! 2 years ago had New Year welcome at midnight then went to a friends bar where they celebrated UK midnight!!!!! Brilliant. The atmosphere there is superb with everyone enjoying themselves, no stupid drunks and plenty of families about. After the midnight thing it was wonderful wandering around harbour and through the streets. Tis is our idea of enjoyment not a party as such.

I'll bet all the cats and dogs of the TRNC will be looking forward to the fireworks. What's the prospect of keeping them inside safe and sound when most are feral and stray and the rest are chained up in the garden? Any purchase of fireworks should come with a mandatory donation for animal welfare.

Pikey, The only fireworks I have seen fo NY are ontop of Girne Belidyse building. As far as I am aware it is illegal for private individuals to have or use fire works, good chance of the military mistaking you for some body undesirable!!!!! LOL The cats around the bars did not seem to be too bothered.

the only trouble is there won't be any entertainers here if they keep on banning them from entertanment, so you best bet will be around the harbour.
