Big big thanks to Fikri and his team for providing the perfect food and ambiance. Our favourite is his wonerful Mousakka which in our opinion has no equal. We bought four for a takeaway evening at friends as part of a lazy night in playing cards "perfic!!"

It is very nice indeed. Coming from Girne, towards Catalkoy you pass big Lemar first, on your right, then Al Shaheen also on right, keep going and on the left you will see a 'Marshalls" after about 1km from Al Shaheen, it is left about 50 mts after Marshalls and about a kilometer down a small road on the left. Coming from Catalkoy, you pass the K-Pet station and it is about 250 mts and you turn right just before "Marshalls" Once found never forgotten.

Marie how unkind, Each of these establishments have contributed to my Wife and I having a really enjoyable holiday and posting our positive experiences may well help the respective restaurants as well as steering other holiday makers towards their doors to hopefully share a similar enjoyable experience. I must confess however Brian Delaney does pay me to be the first person to start clapping at the end of each of his songs! Douh

Dougskud, besides Tanners do you ever go to Turkish restaurants and eat the local food or only keep frequenting ex-pat establishments whilst on holiday.

dalartokat.....are you implying that Taners is frequented by only ex pats? If so, you could not be more wrong as many Cypriots enjoy the food and the ambiance that Fikri provides.

Good morning all Hi Dalartokat re your message no.9. I think you must be having a bad day as most of your posts seem to me to be well balanced and sensible and yet with this one you are being totally blinkered. The Secret Terrace has been owned, managed and staffed by Turkish Cypriots for at least 20 years to my certain knowledge, the Owners have always provide a welcome ambiance to all including we foreign holidaymakers. It would be interesting to hear from Fikri (the owner) as to your inferred comment that this is not a Turkish / Turkish Cypriot restaurant. Please also remember as a holiday maker I have only a limited number of evenings to dine out and when coupled with my pensioner's income I have to be sure that I am not going to waste an evening in a restaurant that does not provide for me what I enjoy. Location is also important with drink driving /police. Please feel free to post names of restaurants you enjoy using in the Ozankoy /east Gurney area. regards

The last 3 messages, please re read my posting, I said "besides" Tanners restaurant. Dougskud, I know Tanner very well, Fikri was at University when I lived there and I know its frequented by TC. When I lived there Tanner used to help me any way he could with my restaurant which was just at the top of the hill by Caglas market at the top of Karakum. You have Erols and the Rose Garden and Lemon Tree, your not far from Bellapais for Abbey Bell Tower, Kybele, if you want to push the boat out.

Interesting post no.13 Nice to read you contradicting yourself, interesting to read your list of "Turkish Restaurants" I'm sure many who have read this link will find it hard to understand the point you made originally comparing your list with the Secret Garden. Why not accept I was correct in commenting, you were having a bad day when you composed your first message. Doug

Hi Ballyboffin I have listed some of the restaurants we have used over the years and graded them 1to10. 1 = rubbish 10 = perfect The Secret Terrace 9 just super Erols 9 just super 14 9 just super The Courtyard 9 this high mark is for a monday evening only and features music with Brian Delaney Kybelle 8 a high score because of the setting, the food is average Patina 7 on a good night can be 9 but more often 5 China Garden 6 lovely people but the food and menu needs positive attention Archway 8 would be 9 but it's a long way to travel The Ambiance 8 would be 9 but you can be unlucky on windy evenings Tropicanna 7 lovely setting with tables arranged around a pool Rafters 8 Undoubtedly the best sunday roast hope this is helpful Doug

Thanks for that dougskud, there are a couple on your list that we haven't tried so will give them a go next time we are there. Manipeni's is on the way to the new harbour, just on the roundabout. I agree with Pugwash about the service though. Can I recommend Midsummer House in Catalkoy, great food and lovely setting. Very special and on Saturday evenings they have Easy G singing, brilliant. Seabreeze in Kucukerenkoy, fabulous food and very friendly people. Beautiful view as well. Last but one of our favourites is Silver Rocks in Lapta. It is worth the drive for the food, sevice and to sit virtually on the sea. Beutiful to while away an afternoon there. By your choice of restaurants your house must be close to us in Ozankoy.

Hi Ballyboffin I agree Midsummer House is a wonderful place to eat. We love silver rocks although tend to have a cold lunch time drink, too far to drive for dinner and too expensive for taxi. Our place is just pass China-garden and Patina before you get to where the road splits to go to the Village. If you are a dog fan we live next door to Daisy and UF. regards Doug
