It is behind the old CTA offices on the left as you drive into Lefkosa. These instructions are copied and psted from an older C44 posting:

Tax office Lefkosa - From Girne take Lefkosa dual carriageway, at boulder roundabout go straight ahead, keep straight passing State Hospital on left, through mini roundabout and down to set of traffic lights where Maxxum Car showroom is on left (usually big queue of traffic here), go straight through these lights and take next left at Turkcell office into one way street, drive to end of this street and go right (virtually going straight ahead). Take next right and you will see wasteland/car park on right hand side, park there and the back of the tax building is at front of car park(low white building), entrance is on the other side. Once inside they have ticketing system but all options are in Turkish. Just ask someone which button you need to press.

We had to take a letter from the seller's muhtar with us when we went to change the logbook, it was a private sale. When we sold our car via a dealer they did all the paperwork.

the buyer and seller must go to the muktar together and he will give you a letter stating the sale is agreed. you then take this and the vehicle documents to lefkosa for the transfer. there may be a percentage of tax to pay also.

hope this helps.

Is it possible to have a name added to the log book .. In my case my wifes ..

A friend has his name & also his wifes name on their log book ..

Would it be beneficial to do this, a neighbour had no end of trouble when her husband died, getting the log book changed to her name ..

msg8. Harita. Whatever you do don't get both names on the logbook! If either of you pass away (god forbid) the car may not be sold for 4 years. I know as I am in this situation right now.

I am not sure but if both husband and wife have power of attorney for each other, that could resolve the problem.

I went last week and I was in and out of the office in under 10 mins. When you enter go to the left and get a ticket from the machine. You will see which ticket to get if you look to the right as you enter as this is the hatch you go to, and it has a neon number above, I think these tickets are lower numbers ie not in the 500's.

I changed a name on a scooter which cost 105tl but I think cars are around 250tl...!!!!
