mot due in july need infor as to the proceedure please

morning my mot is due in july if I remember we need to pay upfront first then take the car to the police station(direction please)for the mot,do I go to the white building where I have been before for the road tax near peanut chicken Girne,

i did a emmision test last year though I found out I did not require one yet,do I redo another one then pay for the mot test,and how much is that please also what are the requirements to pass the mot (first aid,triangle,fire extinguisher any thing else)do i need to produce anything like log book and insurance at the police station during mot or just produce the receipt of mot payment,then with that go back to the white building for a new road disc with all papers up to date(log book valid insurance and mot )

lastly bought the car ist july 08 what is the time grace before a fine is given for lateness I am in the Uk and will need to organise this from here thanks for your help coming bash

Hi Basheer

Yes go to the white building you mention and give them you car documents and 100tl, they will give you a form which you take to the MOT office.



Re emissions I'm not sure if you need a new one or not, it should still be valid but you know how things can change quickly here. A new one costs 25tl and takes a few minutes only, it may be worth it to save hassle.



What you need to pass a test here is a clean car, a clean engine bay and a set of mud flaps. I've been through the process 4 times now and the vehicle has NEVER been touched, no lights checked, no wipers or washers tried, no triangle or first aid,nothing, as long as you present it CLEAN it should sail through. They will look at your docs though so take them ALL



Then as you say back to the white building for e new road tax, you have a few days grace before you get a late payment charge but not sure how many, sorry. I was fined 50 tl for being months late....... admin error!!

Yes you will need a new emissions test - I think it has to be done immediately before the test. I got mine done the day before. My advice is to go to the test centre early - they open at 8 I believe - very quiet then and no waiting.

Would suggest that you go to a local garage and check against their MOT list for when your vehicle is due. As I found out 'to my cost ' that they dont go by the expirey date on your papers.

My MOT worked out at two months less than the 3 years I though it was valid for and I was fined 100 tl.

Garages have list's of of registration and when they should go in for MOT.

basheer take car to erdeners garage see kemal owner and he will do it all for you and you just pick car up whenb done he charges few lira for doing simple and hassle free
