| Several Macintosh computers were stolen this year. Make your Mac impossible to use (by the thief and the buyer) by giving it a start-up password. The Mac won't boot - not even from an OS install disk. Mail me at hansdoeleman@allcrusades.com and I'll mail you back with a simple instruction how to do it (for every OS 9.x.x and OS 10.x.x). There is an US based site where you can leave some essential (only technical) information about your Mac. In case of theft or loss you inform the webmaster of that site and... ALL Mac dealers in the whole world will know that your Mac is "to hot to handle". Furthermore there are ways to find out where your stolen/lost Mac found an illegal home - but only if you take timely precautions. |
