Playing devils advocat and after reading the article in the paper,i wonder what it actually cost to do the construction that is already built up @ ameranta valley,i feel sorry for all concerned but i think the papers headline of 35million con is a little wrong,im sure if the builder had 35 million in his bank account he would finish off the valley project/build.IMO If i was a reborn conman builder and lets say go back to when the valley was started,i could of built all the bases/foundations for all who purchased and then mortgaged up all of the land,as i believe in them days if you took a deposit and contract the banks would give you almost the build cost or the selling price in a loan, now that x 400 would of been a huge amount of money, and then i would of done a runner as is being suggested and not build maybe 70% as it looks @ the moment, maybe i do not know enough about whats gone on up there,it is just a thought im voiceing how a real con could of been carried out.

Ok David/Amanda What I am about to say is not going to go down too well with a lot of people, but I believe that if outside forces had not come into play then I reckon the development would have been finished. I believe Gary Robb was shafted big time. I also reckon Asil Nadir was shafted big time. I am not saying that they were not in some part to blame but when you start to make life complicated for yourself then there are always others that will step in and make life even more complicated for you.

AJ.Dave. Its Amanda. There is the old saying, theres no smoke without fire, and what you say is so very true, have you ever been to the customs place in lefcosa, all the heavy plant from ameranta valley is down there,100s of 1000s of pounds worth, rotting away and so many parts dissapeared, strange really to think that they are in a SAFE CUSTOMS COMPOUND ! I also believe the valley would of been finished,no con man would build to the % that is built up there and waste a fortune then just stop or run away or give up after useing so much money. OMHO. But again maybe i do not know enough about the workings of a Build to comment to much, just having built 10 apartments and a few houses in the past i do find it strange if a builder is going to con some one why would they build to such a level then walk away after spending so much. I dont think those are the actions of a man bent on conning people. Again,i do not know all, only speak from what i see. i feel sorry for all concerned.

Dave / Amanda, IMO this is Dave not Amanda. Her command of the English language, in your words not mine, is better than yours

It was meant to keep the thread on topic,i feel its very boring and childish to keep pulling folk up on there spelling/s,john it does get rather boring,we already have 1 person on cyp44 that makes it his job to do as you was in message 8. The thread is a serious debate.

Om Are you suggesting that Dutch builders and solicitors are susceptible to be economical with truth and spelling when writing a 'sale of contract'?! Richard

Also the question of if a person can get a fair trial with all the publicity that has been and is there. Some might say never mind if its a fair trial. But if we agree in a democratic society then we should all agree to a person no matter who it is getting a fair trial, will that be possible in the south side courts?

I believe that AJ is perfectly correct in his assessment of the Gary Robb situation. Cafer Gurcafer and Tahir Soycan, together with a well-known 'suspect lawyer', coupled with various bank officials, [allegedly] could, if they wished, unravel this whole seamy affair. Isn't this the basic 'guts' of the matter?
