Any medics out there?

My wife's feet are covered in blisters. Do I pierce them to remove the fluid, or let them dry out naturally. Are they best left to the open air or should they be covered. Someone has suggested soaking in epsom salts, but can't find any here in N Cyprus.

I've got some cream 'bactroban' from the local pharmacy but all instructions are in Turkish, so not sure whether it's helping or hindering the healing process.

You should never pop them , just let them re-absorb naturally , if they do break cover them to prevent infection

If you have popped them, iodine is a good treatment, turns your feet a funny colour though

Tell your good lady to soak her feet in salted water three times a day, air dry them and put on clean white socks to help stop infection.

Its always best not to burst a blister as the skin over it is like a sterile cover but if they are so big that they're hanging it might be best to burst them and let them heal naturally as it will take a long time for them to absorb.

You also need to work out what caused the blisters and eliminate those shoes / sandals / socks.

Keep the area clean and as Simbas says don't strip / burst the blisters.

If you need any help just e-mail me. trnchealthcare@gmail.com or phone me between 8am and 5pm.

Thanks guys.

Unfortunately I popped them before seeking advice, and yes NN it was fun!

Will ordinary table salt work?

suntanman,

Yes table salt will do. Dissolve it in warm water, just a few tablespoons in a basin.

Re: Msg 10,

suntanman,

You'll benefit from buying at the chemist a special blister plaster ( Compeed or 2nd skin) as well as blister cream (or if you can find it a tincture form - even better), so combination of these will help the healing process and prevent the infection.

Depends on what type of blister it is. Blisters heal themselves naturally and don't usually require medical assistance.

p.s. if its a small blister cover with a plaster, if big, just dress it.
