I am english and have been living in girne with my turkish boyfriend since last summer and so far have not needed to post as always found the answer to my query on here, problms with cta, visas, jobs etc.

However, we are getting married next month in turkey as we have been told we cant get married here as he is from the mainland (no comments about marrying turkish men please).

Before we go to turkey I need a Certificate of No Impediment and the next stage in getting that is to swear an affidavit in front of a 'local notary public'

Please can anyone tell me what a local notary public is and where my nearest one is?

Thanks

I think, but not sure, you need what is called here a noter or certifying officer. There are quite a few but the one I have used for years is called Unsal Guruk. He has a tiny office opposite the law courts in Girne and next door to the cafe on the corner. If he can't do it, he will know a man who can. Good luck

We use as chap just up the lane from the same cafe on the corner. His name is Mehmet Altunc or Mehmet Pasa also very good, have seen Naomi Mehmet there on several occasions so I should imagine if she uses him he is probably OK. His office is opposite Munir Akils
