Can anybody give me any information regarding the amnesty this month, I have a friend who owes a large amount of money ie fines due to a lost passport and visa running out, hence a large fine was given, have been told that the fine will be scrapped if my friend pays 1300 tl before the end of June, friend is in the UK does my friend need to come back to Cyprus to be able to pay the 1300 tl or can somebody pay it on my friends behalf. Any information at all regarding this amnesty would be appreciated.

Hi, Probably not much help but I understood that the amnesty was in connection with cars. They have waived the % you pay per cc of the vehicle and for one month only, June, you just pay 60% of the value as per the Glass's guide. Typical for me - I paid mine when due at end of April!

There was something about an amnesty in Cyprus Today a few weeks ago. It was for both workers without a permit and people here illegally(either over-run the 90 days or not renewed residency). I think for people here illegallly the amnnesty was reduced to 60 lira a day for however many days they had overstayed, but they would not be deported if paid the money. I can't remember the exact details, perhaps someone else might remember, or get in touch with Cyprus Today.
