Thisthe second time that this has happened toPolice dogs in the last 2 years and the last time the man found guilty received 6 months conditional discharge and had to pay £2500 towards prosecution costs so youcould sayhe got away with a slapped wrist!!These people are proffesional handlers and should know better so I hope this time the man concerned is dealt with properly by the courts.

Strange follow up article here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-13939439 It is not clear, to me at least, how the injury to the handlers hand is connected to the death of the dogs or if it is connected at all.

He tried to commit suicide by slashing his wrists and jumping from a moving car as he was distraught over what had happened.

The cop in question did something similar a few years ago. Not fit for purpose I would think.

It's very sad and shouldn't have happened, but trying to commit suicide over it is a bit OTT. England doesn't often have this kind of heat usually, but must learn a hard lesson from this. Killing oneself will not bring the lovely dogs back.

This police officer has infact been on TV advising us all abt animal welfare. I think you would need to be pretty thick to leave dogs in an unventilated car in scortching heat. This isn't the first time this has happenned, and previous cases have been well publicised. I think the suicide bid is more then just abt the animals deaths, he has lost all credibility and should face prosecution
