AJ The best idea is to precis your work...

Anyway, there was between 1820 and 1950 a sort of gentleman's agreement that adequate remuneration for the CEO of a large company who not exceed 20 times average salary.... i.e. take the total wage bill divide by number of employees and multiply by twenty...

Now the fat cats have managed to hoodwink society into thinking they are so important to the success of the company and the economy that as much as 400 times average works salary is "fair"...

Most large companies have a pyramidical structure with the CEO at the top and the lowest paid workers at the bottom.... Ideally analysts tell us there should be no more than seven layers but most companies struggle to achieve anywhere near as flat a sturcture as this and many have more than twenty layers of management below CEO before you get to the lower level workers....

I say knock the top off a pyramid and it stands... remove one of the supporting blocks and it starts to crumble...
