Hi boredhousewife, I to am suffering this morning, was on the wine last night and I think it went down tooooooo well. My son had a friend sleep over and they woke me at 3.45 going to bed then my daughters alarm went off at 6.45 which she forgot to turn off the night before and then I got a text at 7.40, so much for a saturday morning sleep in. Getting hungry now think I will have a nice bacon buttie that normally helps a hangover. Hope you feel better soon.

Too late now but to avoid a hangover, before you go to bed just drink as much water as you can handle, hangovers are mainly caused by dehydration so that should mean you don't wake up with a headache and a mouth like the Gobi desert. When you get up eat something really fatty like a fry up.

The kids had a great time here. They dressed up at school, and were

going out last night (with parents) and a night walk at the nature centre.

Some adults are dressing up too, (in Tescos. etc.) and lots of things going on.

I agree about drinking plenty water at night for hangover, but if I ate a greasy

fryup in the morn I should be sick! (Might feel better then) But I only had

2 glasses of wine & made tablet for the kids (similar to fudge, but much nicer)

The best remedy is to remember what this one felt like and next time don't... but as this is neither practical nor fun I would agree that drinking water before you go to bed is the answer...

Now the trouble is... when you get home you are more than likely to fop outr in your bed and forget to drink the aforementioned water... so heres the trick... before you go out... put a glass of water by your bed and then when you go to bed you'll think

"who the f*ck put that there... stupid bastards... could cause an accident..."

Then it will dawn on you that you put it there to drink before you sleep... so you'll congratulate yourself on being such a clever clogs and drink the water... spend a nice night flushing your liver of all the toxins and then wake up at 5 dying for a pee... well there has to be a down side!

for BHW (not for recommended for hangover though)

Melt 2 lbs. sugar in 4 oz butter, half cup of milk, half cup of water.

When sugar melted, bring to boil for about 15 mins.

Add tin Swiss (condensed) milk & continue to boil until drop of it

will form soft ball in cold water. Beat 'til thick, add 2 teaspoons vanilla

Pour into trays, cut into small squares when nearly cold.

(Don't know how many calories, but I usually make it at Halloween)

You can add peppermint, chocolate or whisky etc. to tablet also.

Some folks also make treacle toffee, or tablet without the Swiss milk

Recipe from Scottish Women's Rural Institute Cookery Book (ancient, and

how our grans. made it!)

to bottom so all broken up (still tasty though) Tin is better.

Hi BHW - we had a brilliant Halloween at the Black Olive Cafe in Alsancak. All the kids were dressed up, and some of us adults (evidence on Facebook unfortunately!). Luckily didn't get a hangover, but I do feel for you, agree with the water thing, but it's too late now!!!

Phylray - will make sure I do it in tin roasting dish! Am off to buy the condensed milk tomorrow. Livethedream - sounds like you had a great time. I think its fun when the adults dress up too! Makes it more fun for the children. Do you do things like trick or treat out there?? Lilli - thanks for your advice - sounds good too! God I do sound like an alcoholic dont I! I promise I dont get drunk that often but when I do I suffer the next day!!! And no I am not bored at all. I run a very busy house with three men (including a dog) plus the boys do lots of clubs after school - always driving here there and everywhere!!! Never any time for me!!!!!

BHW - no trick or treating as such, not sure what the locals think of us all dressed up as it is - but The Black Olive put on a brilliant night. The Hip Hop club (which my daughter goes to) did a dance to 'Thriller', and they had dressed the dance studio to look like a graveyard - excellent!

Hi Nicky,

Next time you get a hangover try Bananas, Chocolate, honey & Ice cream

It may sounds too good to be true, but it works !!..

Bananas have potassium and magnesium that helps to rehydrate you, while honey raises blood sugar levels and milk soothes your wasted stomach. Bottoms up!

Also

A Hot Bath - The heat will sweat out the toxins that are causing all the problems. You'll feel a bit woozy at first but go with it and you'll feel better afterwards

If all this fails take some tablets and hide from the world in a dark room & get some sleep

not one single person came tricking or treating this year { first time ever } left with a whole load of chocolates , ah well , better start chomping they will be out of date by next year { thats my excuse anyway } by the way , if you have a glass of water in between every drink you don't get a hangover , tip given to me by a french friend , it works if you remember to do it

regards , simbas
