We fully agree that Trieste is in Italy (still).

what a clot I am, I actually meant Istria with its rich Austro-Hungarian history. This is the place which I think was lost to Croatia (iron curtain region) after the 2nd World War. I think this caused a flood of Italian refugees to leave for the Americas. This is the place I want to visit in Spring when it warms up a bit.

Can only put the aberration down to age and Commandaria!

Re: Msg 1,

"..Can only put the aberration down to age and Commandaria!"

Perhaps you should switch to Graševina or Slovenian Vipava.

Enjoy you trip to Istria. Wish I were there!

Deeply jealous,

Clarissa

Clarissa

ignorant clot that I am it sounds suspiciously like Grass and Vipers! Still, if its all there is I will have to sample it!

Can't wait!

Need to find out now whether I can go from Istanbul or whether I need to go from Larnaca. Perhaps even the UK - wonder if it's somewhere in the middle?

Anyone been there who can tell me?

Re: Msg3,

Graševina and Vipava are gorgeous vines plus many many others.

I spent many happy days/years there.

Croatia is very well served by major airlines : BA, Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss etc and plenty of charter flights.

I'm sure Tom of Flightholidays will find a suitable connection for you.

Still jealous,

Clarissa
