This is a plea to all of you. We have a couple who arrived here for IVF treatment in Lefkosa. The clinic has been paid and the hotel booking was done with http://www.mybookingcentrals.com. They were given confirmation of their booking and it shows Malpas Hotel, and the booking company took out payment out of their account. All of this is in their emails. They booked their own flights to Larnaca, and the clinic collected them and brought them to Malpas. However, there was no record of a booking for them and we do not deal with that booking company. I tried this morning to find a contact number for mybookingcentrals on the internet but I could not get onto their site. I did a bit of research about this company and found this, '....this is a fraud web site who take your money for booking hotels. They tell you that the hotel will have your name 72 hours before you check in. When you check in there is no booking and no one ever answers your emails. They have no phone numbers. They money will....

come of your your account in turkish lira...... I HAVE NOT TOLD THE COUPLE THIS INFORMATION YET. I have spoken to the lady at the IVF clinic and she is horrified and very distressed for this couple. The wife is very upset that there appears to be no booking and she is supposed to be stress-free for her treatment. I have taken all the correspondence they have, and I told them to leave it with me. Unfortunately, the hotel IS COMPLETELY BOOKED AT THE MOMENT so what I want to ask is: Does anyone have an empty villa that they are willing to allow this couple to stay in until 13 JUly? The clinic can arrange a driver for the couple so the area is not so important. The couple have forked out a lot of money for this treatment/accommodation and the wife is going to be devestated when she learns the truth. Therefore, I am trying to soften the blow by trying to sort out alternative accommodation for them. The clinic have said that money is quite tight fot this couple. PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ?

@ msg 1, CaireCat: You included a dot in the URL.

This is the right URL:

▶ [ http://www.mybookingcentrals.com ].

There's a lot about this site via Google - however it looks like the site has been taken off line.

We have now been offered a flat in Lefkosa which will be available from Monday. So now I am just looking for somewhere for them to stay tonight and tomorrow night. They do not have to go to the clinic until Monday morning so area is not important, but they will need to relax after I break the news to them!

With all sympathy for the couple in their predicament and to you in helping them.

Why why why did they not use a tour operator or reliable agent?

Claire we are talking (a pleasure) -

If they have insurance they should use it (if not why not)

They should go back to their c/c company for the fraud. (Maybe their domestic insurance can help.)

You are going well beyond the call of duty I hope they will apprecaite it.

I do agree with John (as an ATOL bonded operator etc I would).

As I said for the w/e try yhe hotel I suggested in Karaoglanoglu they might be able to relax there and they will be sympathetic. 0392 822 2026

Tom, it was nice to talk to you and I appreciate your help. I will pass on everything you suggested when I break the news to the couple later today. Thank you.

Hi Claire any further news about this poor couples predicament and your helping them?

PS For those who do not realise it Claire is being a Good Samaritan as she could have just said on behalf of the hotel "no booking, not my problem, go away" and obviously has not.

This is not nonense. I know some very seasoned travellers who were conned in exactly the same way by this bookings website. I am sure it is not the only one out there. Paying by credit card is always a good idea as the credit card company can usually track down where the money actually went. In a similar situation and having paid by visa, I managed to get all of the money back.

I saw an article in The Star that Pegasus are joining forces with a company called Bookings.com to enable passengers to book hotels online, I hope this is not the same company r many more people could be duped.
