The article will be on a North Cyprus travel guide. The writing is about places in Northern Cyprus. I require around 20 articles, each with minimum 400 words. If you are interested in this project please send a sample of your work to e mail address provided in my original post. Please also include your price in the e mail.

Thanks

What do you reckon SuziSuz, between us we could manage 'potholing in Amaranta' or 'playing chicken in Demokrasi Sokak'. I've got it 'Bankers in North Cyprus' Sorry typo, the B should be W.

Sorry bevaz, but just couldn't resist it.

I am sure there are some writers who would help promote the tourist industry here, but at present I will give it a miss.

O.K. Let's get serious here! And the rate of pay per article is? Yes, I can write to you, but samples of my work are all around you - the old Cyprus Observer; Zoom In magazine; sometimes The Star; formerly Property Mag and Londra Gazette. But I am sure there are other around who I will not mention by name as it is up to them to get in touch, but I kinda think that as professionals they want to know the rate.

as a member of the nUJ, I know there is no point in my telling you what I want, - what I do want is to know how much you are prepared to pay and I can then tell my other friends who are good writers, but who gave up because they got fed up writing for nothing, that maybe you could all do business together. Unless you want me to do all 20 articles????????????????????????

@ msg 7, Marion: Dear Marion, using more than one question mark is against the rules in the English language.

So you don't qualify re: msg 1: "The writing will need to be with perfect grammar and spelling".

What a sad ad this is.

As a pro for many years for a national new paper I wouldn't think one second to apply if the poster asked for a multi-lingual applicant.

Thanks NN. To DC,i would like to point out that as a NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKER, I am allowed some poetic licence as and when I wish, and it is up to the gentleman who posted the thread to decide who he might wish to be his writer or writers. And perhaps you would be kind enough to explain your last sentence. No one is asking you to apply and in any case this is not to be a 'new paper' !!!!!!!! (Voila, more poetic licence and emphasis!!!!!)

But sadly DC I have to comment (and note, everyone, it is in my own name - not a pseudonym) that you obviously do not realise how many people you have turned away from this board because of your unnecessary rudeness! Why do you do it? (note only one question mark here!) I know of two very nice people who feel they do not wish to be on the receiving end of your rude and unnecessary comments and they are a great loss to the board. So, please, even though you are not a native English man, a bit of good old English manners would become you.

"I am looking for English proficient HIGHT QUALITY" - hmmmmmmmm, so - if you are 6' 4" you are in with a shot, but 4'6" - no reason to apply?

I wouldn't think any writer worth their salt would apply in a bartering situation, it is disingenuous to ask for writers, to then ask - what do you want to be paid? tsk tsk tsk, must try harder.........

Agreed MsGarnet. that is why I asked. Yes, it is true in other places that one can negotiate a fee and get a maximum sum, but out here one often finds that 'freebies' are the only 'wages'.

Marion, I think he is looking for 'cheap' or he would give the rate and wouldn't be asking on here.

Hans Msg 8 - We have all seen Marions reportage in the papers and I think you might agree that it is usualy amongst the best on the island. So allow her a little poetic licence on Cy44. Reading Msg 10 - I suspect that Marion has taken your comment harder than you intended.

Pauline Msg 14 - I tend to agree

Hope you share the results with us Hayley. some of us are getting very curious. Yes, I could write direct, but as the matter is part of a public forum, I would welcome some feedback. Wouldn't you 'misunderstood' with whom I agree. I know from personal experience that freebie is welcome and that is why one reads such rubbish in various publications. If he wants 'good' then he must pay 'good', or should have at least said 'union rates of pay'! tee, hee.

And I have taken a look at the web page and see how lacking it is in info for North cyprus, so can see why message 1 wants writers from here to write about here. and I can see why the need for excellent, English. I must admit, however, that I know some locals here, both tc and Turkish whose english is better than those who learned it at their mother's knee.

So who wrote the articles re south Cyprus, I wonder.

If you really are a professional writer I am willing to pay £10 for each 400 words article but I have not found one yet. I have read articles on local English papers, unfortunately there is usually non with a value. Not everyone can use grammar perfectly when it comes to writing, that is why I really needed to specify "English proficient HIGHT QUALITY WRITERS"

So, please do not hesitate to contact me if you really are perfect writer.

Thanks

Would prefer not to waste the ink and paper for that sort of money.

What sort of quality articles do you really think you will obtain for £10!

This fee would not even purchase a decent steak.

Who would get paid £10 for a time of 20 minutes which each article should take to complete most? If you are not a professional and creative then you can work a day on a paragraph but still not come to end. I am afraid your ink sounds way too expensive for me anyway.

I know writers who can write a perfect article within 10 minutes. If you finish all 20 articles you would be making £200 in a day.

Thanks anyways, I have found someone. This post is closed.

In defence of Beyaz, the rates over here bear no relationship to other places - just ask those working in the media here, so a rate of £25 for 1000 words is fine, IF you are not doing the research. Yes, we fast typists can bash out 400 words (and if I make spelling mistakes it is this wretched new Toshiba which needs looking at, and thus slows me down). 90 wpm is quite feasible with today's keyboards, but, Beyaz, are you merely asking for someone to edit/proof read. I have done article son holiday accommodation here and places, and it has involved petrol costs and travelling time and if writing from scratch it can take a bit of thinking time.

I would gladly have done some work if it is as you maintain, but I guess from message 22 you have employed Hayley. Hope it all goes well but I do think you should have said you needed a subbie/proof reader, NOT a writer

By the way, a close rival to your web page is WHL for which I have done work, and I do hope most sincerely

that you sell.

(sorry ran out of space)...... I meant to say 'sell Cyprus to tourists and help to put us on the travel map. Many agents are struggling here, and improvement in tourism means improvement in life style for many. good luck.

Sorry Hayley. Hope he has got someone as good as you and I would prove to be. Never mind, instead of sweating away over a hot keyboard, we can go out and enjoy the sunshine and hope some work comes along in the winter when huddling over a keyboard does not make one feel quite so deprived!
