Any TRNC open-mike or talent competitions being run during August?

Subject line says it all.



My youngest daughter would be interested in any open-mike or talent competitions in the TRNC whilst over in August. Karaoke nights, we can find easily enough. She plays guitar too.



We will be based Lapta / Karisyaka area - probably a bit far to travel over to Bogaz or Famagusta for the evening.

Thanks MartinD, "Black Olive" - somewhere we haven't tried before. Whereabouts in Alsancak is the "Black Olive" please? Is it a bar, restaurant, hotel? What kind of event are you thinking of hosted there?

Don't really do talent comps here, the last one organised was cancelled due to lack of entries. Suggest you bring guitar and go to a restaurant and if your daughter is good, offer a few songs..see how it goes.

We have only just started our Open Mic Nites and they are held on a Saturday deffo not karaoke( and it was a great first night with a few children coming along to play)

And Hoots bar in Ilgas have been holding them on a Tuesday for a long time

Thanks Vicki, looking forward to our first visit to the Black Olive, in August. Thanks also for the info on Hoots. We like it there - didn't know they held an open mike night.



I didn't mean it to come across as a downer on karaoke nights - all good experience when it comes to public performing.

Hoot's Bar in Ilgaz.... Turn up towards the mountains from the Mambo bar in Alsancak, keep going about 1.5 miles to the village. There is a car parl opposite the bar and it is sign posted all the way up....



Hoot's Bar holds the original mic night on a Tuesday night... It's a great atmospere with plenty of variety... The gardens are wonderful, full of flowers, and the sun set is to die for from the roof terrace..



Murat and Sonia welcome new guests as new friends.... Its a great place to go..



Or try the Tapas night on a Friday, and the quiz night on a Thursday night... They are also doing Sunday Dinner in the evening only because of the heat...



They have been in this idilic village house now for about 4 years and each year it just gets better....

Thanks for your input too rollingbones.

We know Hoots well and have enjoyed many evenings and the odd afternoon stop off there over the years.

I didn't know Hoots held an open mike night - until Vicki and yourself posted the info.

We now have a couple of venues (The Black Olive and Hoots), other suggestions always welcome folks.
