Thanks for that simbas. New to this health system, so do you have to register with a doctor or just turn up and pay up?

Simbas... it was only in jest and he did want to "see what happens"....

If he's got an upset tummy he should go onto the BRAT diet

Bananas Rice Apple and Toast (without butter) drink loads of bottled water and try live yoghurt on bananas and honey... always does the trick for me.

Go and see Dr Hakan Ataker in Girne. He's a very good GP and, if you need specialist treatment, will recommend and assist. Directions: pass the HSBC on your left, then take the second turning left. There is a large white building about 100 yards on the right. Dr Hakan's surgery is on the ground floor. I have used him for years and he is excellent. Normally in his surgery rom about 9 until 1, then 3-5 I think. Pgone number: 0392.8155204

Hi Brenda,

The banana, rice, apple & toast diet will almost certainly help as will the yogurt but I would recommend that you go to the hospital in Girne. Keep drinking lots of water and we hope you are feeling better soon.

Lefkosa hospital has a system whereby you go to the hospital (without an appointment) tell them the problem at reception and they will direct you to the department you need. You have to book in at reception then. I went for heart check-ups and saw Dr. Sevgul, who was absolutely marvellous. I had ECG, X-Rays, Echo scan, and then went on the Treadmill. Loads of blood tests (and I mean loads) Total cost over the four weeks 130 ytl. However, if you dont want to go all that way, then as Nige says Girne hospital is very good.
