Hi - would anyone be able to let me know how much a tanker of water holds and what the charge for a full tanker would be? This is for domestic use not a swimming pool so don't know if that makes a difference to the cost.

Many thanks

Where are you, as this could well affect the price?

Don't know where you buy it for at 25tl per tonne but thats expensive, we pay 8tl, we are not on mains water so use it in the house for washing etc. If I'm cooking I use water from the 19litre bottle of water (5tl). We are at Esentepe.

If you can get water locally then it should between 8-10 Tl a ton(ne) but tanker sizes vary and they have no way of metering the water supplied so if you are filling a pool just ask how much the tanker holds (most are around the 10 ton(ne) capacity as they are usually ex UK milk tankers.

tip , shower together , lather each other up , turn of shower whilst doing this , turn shower back on to rinse , if you are on the floor in the thrones of excitment at this point DONT FORGET TO TURN OF SHOWER , 1 tonne should last you 1 day

There are 2 of us and we have 2 tonnes about every 10 to 12 days, depends on how often you use washing machine, dishwasher etc. The tanker that delivers ours holds 18 tonnes, some have 20 tonnes and some are smaller. Our next door neighbours use about the same and there are just the 2 of them as well.

We pay 8ytl a ton in the Esentepe area and we use just over a ton of water a week for the two of us. Washing machine on most days and so is dishwasher. We both shower twice a day in the summer and water most of the garden once a week. We recycle as much water as we can for the flowers and use the bucket of water from the shower before it runs hot for the salad we grow.

I don't understand where rowlo is getting his figures from.

8 TL per tonne is about the norm. 3 adults in our house and we get through 4 tonne per week for house domestic and garden watering use in the summer. Not sure who delivers in Ozankoy, but I am sure somebody who lives there can advise.

i think the going rate is 8tl a ton.

can i suggest you ask your neighbours if they know/use a reliable supplier. yu can then share a full tanker full.

works out cheaper in the long run and only 1 of you need wait in for the delivery.

Good way to check how much water you have delivered. 1 tonne is 1 cubic metre. So simple maths you can work out how much water you need. I measured my balance tank 2 metres x 2metres and 2 metres deep hence a full balance tank holds 8 tonnes. I needed 4 tonnes the other week and when water delivered I was out and water people said they had delivered 5 tonnes. Looked in balance tank and water level just same as when I left and was still chareged 50 ytl - never again - I measure every time and watch what is delivered and I mark where it should come upto.

Most water suppliers I know will pump the water straight into the pool (not the balance tank). If you have an overflow pool then this is the only way to do it.

Thank you all very much, I was just sense checking what our admin co is charging for water as our complex isn't on mains water yet as the Girne local authorities wouldn't give permission for mains water!!! We're hoping that they will sooner rather than later cos it's very expensive when it's tanker water.

Sounds like we are being charged a reasonable price for the water so thanks again.
