Re Msg 2: If Turkey decided to go for the whole Island there is no one to stop them. Their army is one of the most powerful and dedicated in the world, and it is totally cut-throat. The Greeks know this - which is why they maintain their own (pathetic by comparison) army they can't afford, and why they like the UN presence. Geoff

Think they meant business don't you... It still could happen any where, never be complacent in affairs of any government.. Geoff is correct, Turkey has will do what she wants. You only have to look at the troops to see how fit and dedicated they are when they do the flag change in Girne!! Greeks are just babs compared with Turks...

msg2; What's Greeks got to do with Cyprus? ifs and buts don't matter, facts do.They have inveded my homeland in 1974,under false porpuses and have been bullying it ever since.Sadly enough, the rest of the world have been watching it happen and saying/doing nothing.Could that be because there is nothing that interests them?...........up until now!

Turkey will not go for the whole island, for the same reason USA or Russia will not go through Turkey if and when they please! It is very simplistic to think that Turkey could have taken the whole of the island whilst the rest of the world watched. There is nothing wrong with the discipline, the courage and the capability of the Turkish military - it is the likes of some Turkish government ministers who suffer from megalomania and think "they" are the Turkish army and "they" did what the army did during 1974. If it was Erdoğan in power at the time - no invasion would have taken place! We have seen how ineffective he was during the only military crisis he faced when İsrael attacked Turkish Aid vessels in international waters. He is just as ineffective against Kurdish terrorists. His party members hate the army more than the Greeks, because they see them as the main obstacle in the way of Mullahs and religious leaders, who would have turned the country into another Iran.

Already a huge demonstration is being planned to "unwelcome" Erdoğan to Cyprus by many unions and organisations acting jointly! Do not be surprised if Erdoğan calls off his visit on this occasion

I think the real protests need to be directed at the present TRNC goverment in a big way... Not having a walk around Lefkosa for a couple of hours then going home for a mangal !! If the last protest is anything to go by I think Erdogan will be laughing his ass off...
