Does anyone know whether it is still legal to purchase small quantities of pet medicines online and have them sent here through the post?

I don't know if the pet meds you need require a prescription but it may prove to be very difficult as UK vets cannot supply meds for animals outside the UK now. If it is non prescription is there anyone it can be delivered to in the UK then forwarded to you? I'm not sure how well they would make it through the post if there is a pet supply company emblem on the envelope. Also, some pet meds are the same as human ones so that may be another option worth checking out. Hope this helps.

What is it you need, as sometimes pet medicines are sold in the pharmacies under different names?

I haven't had one single dog medicine prescribed by a Vet that I haven't been able to get in one or another of the local Chemists.

İ have always had them sent by an Australian company. They are much cheaper than over here, especially for things like Frontline. With 6 animals, the savings are significant. İ read recently that human meds are no longer allowed but wanted to know about pet meds before placing an order.

many thanks for all replies.

To be on the safe side, why not go to Girne Post Office, downstairs in the customs department, and ask them.

My understanding is that they can be but it needs a Veterinary Department licence on the basis that not available here i.e cost is not an issue. How you go about this ask, your Vet. Otherwise get them hand carried.

The UK situation is that the administration of all prescriptions in the UK was devolved in 2009 to the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons who said only we can do it and we need to see the animal first. I believe this is in contravention of EU law but, that said, will not make a practical solution.

I get mine from the Darkside at a bit of a premium, although I understand other EU countries do not need prescriptions but this does not solve the post problem.
