Took Mrs. OldDogs up to Karaman today to see her brother. Would normally have lunch at the Levant but it closes on Mondays. Never mind said I we'll pick up a pint and a sandwich at the Crows Nest. However this was not to be. No food until 6.00pm on Thursday! Whilst we were there a further 7 hungry people arrived, all on holiday, and all disappointed. What must they think? The village is one of the jewels of Cyprus, but if you are in danger of being hungry bring your own sandwiches. Now I understand that both of these businesses are under the same ownership - surely they have a responsibility to provide at least a basic service in the middle of the tourist season. Naturally the Spot Bar, Village Shop and Art Gallery were also all closed - heaven help us!

I hope the owners of the establishments read your posting. Karaman, which I visit with guests always reminds me of a "Welsh Sunday" 30 years ago....no alcohol !!! xxx

We took a trip out to Eagles' Nest (Esenteppe way) today. We took our dogs as that bar always makes them welcome. Trouble was that it also closes on a Monday. Is Monday a typical day for restaurant/bars to close?? Does anyone know? Anyway, we ended up at Sea Breeze Restaurant (where good dogs are not a problem) and we had a very nice lunch.
